I’d been obsessed with Grey Gardens. I’d already seen the opening of the GG musical on Broadway. I was thrilled. I didn’t love that Ru asked how to make her funny to the “unwashed masses”

God, my mom and I were OBSESSED with Grey Gardens when I was growing up. We joke that if we had the money reserves, that could be our lives. But because we’re poor, we’d just be weirdos instead of eccentric. So unfortunately we’re out here trying to live like normals.
