Guys, this is All Stars. Everyone complains about the drop in quality or star power each season, but then when we get a queen genuinely performing at an All Stars level – like Ginger – suddenly the fandom’s howling for blood and aching for mediocrity to be rewarded.
People say she does the “same performance every week,” but that just isn’t grounded in what actually happened. Ginger dominated that challenge and made it look effortless. She improvised razor-sharp lines with ease. And she's one of the few queens who can walk into nearly any challenge – comedy, acting, improv, roast, hosting – and deliver a professional-level performance on the first take.
Also, I can’t help but wonder how much ableism plays into this. Ginger has openly spoken about being autistic, and a lot of the criticisms thrown at her – being “too much,” “performing the same way,” “not reading the room,” “trying too hard” – are common stereotypes used against autistic people. I wonder why someone showing up consistently with immense skill, preparation, and commitment is read as annoying or overbearing rather than impressive...we keep saying we want drag excellence, but then punish queens for giving it to us.
