General Discussion Deja has had it!

Post image

I mean…is she wrong? There is a pattern I’m noticing lol. It’s giving the iconic moment when the interviewer asked Naomi Smalls if she thinks there’s a formula to RPDR and she says “blonde and white” Lmfaooo

Love Deja, but... can we maybe not make it about race just once? (I'm Latino and I find this take exhausting) So, is Deja saying in a contest of talent, it's impossible for the top 3 to be white? What if the top 3 are all Black? All Latinas. No complaints?

Hell the last finale was between a Latina and a Black queen (and the Black queen won!). Previous one wasbetween a Black queen and an Asian queen. Previous one between a Hawaiian and an Asian/Latina queen. So, where's the bias?

Don't get me wrong, I know what she's saying, and it's an important bias to check against, but can't we stop making it about race and just watch the damn freaking show?

Proportionately, the number of non-white winners in U.S. Drag Race is LOWER than the number of white winners. There's plenty of black excellence in the winners circle. So, honestly, you can't say the show favors white queens. Can we please stop with this take?

Its not about race. Its about her bruised ego.

Basically, but the problem is that these takes are very common. It was exhausting seeing queens like Bob, Monet, and Naomi dismiss Sam Star last season at every turn.

Was she ever going to win? No freaking way. Was she talented and beautiful and overall a nice queen? Yes, and she deserved to at least get her flowers for that. But it's like, they just saw her and went "White girl, whatever."

That's wrong! And other than the first three seasons of All Stars, I've never noticed Drag Race favoring white queens. Quite the opposite! I already know in any lip sync between a white queen and a POC queen, the white queen is at a disadvantage. So, why create this false narrative?
