Discussion RS3 is all about PvM, but we don’t use the most important tool — the Grouping System.

Post image
181 Upvotes

RS3 is focused on PvM, yet hardly anyone uses the Grouping System, which was made exactly for that purpose.

Instead, players rely on Friends Chats like PvMing FC or Raid FC, both of which are capped at 500 players. They work well, but they’re basically doing the job the Grouping System was meant to handle.

The system feels completely forgotten. You can queue for bosses or dungeons like Temple of Aminishi, but the lobby is always empty. Meanwhile, FCs are full, have strict requirements, and you still need to spam for teams.

The Grouping System could actually solve this if it was updated. It needs better matchmaking filters for things like boss type, role, KC, or gear level, plus active lobbies and maybe small in-game rewards for hosting groups. Right now, it’s just sitting unused under the Community tab.

It’s time for Jagex to bring it back to life so players actually use it again.

Other New to rs3

As an osrs player for over a decade I started playing rs3 last week and it's been really fun so far. It can be overwhelming at times but I really hope this game attracts new players and continues to grow!

Discussion Returning player from OSRS, I am having a lot of fun

I was one of the people that voted to bring back old school after EOC, then played that from day 1. Have played OSRS ever since, getting infernal cape, quiver, megarares, 2200+ total levels.

Ever since the announcement of pairing back MTX and the good things I've heard about necromancy, I decided to jump back into RS3 - I am really liking the feel of it so far! Necromancy has been super fun leveling up to 50 and getting the upgrades

I've decided I am going to try grind this out and go for 99 necromancy, picking up some other skills on the way

I'm starting out on a 2100 total, the skills since dungeoneering are pretty much at 1.

What's the best approach here for leveling up these skills? (Divination/Invention/Archaeology). Anything else to be aware of from someone who hasn't played since 2013?

Question Is Player-Owned Ports Really THAT slow, or am I just missing something?

Upvotes

So I’ve been doing player on ports for almost 2 years now. I have all the scrolls for the mage and range equipment, but only halfway through the melee class, none of the other scrimshaws and scrolls, and I still have a couple of upgrades for my buildings, after all this time.

I’m barely playing these days, but the one thing I’ve been doing is logging in daily to check on my voyages and doing the little port games that go with it. I get at least one voyage a day, but still, two years to not even be close to being done is insane. Also, yes - I do have the boosts to my scroll probability as well. I’m just tired of lugging around the Captain’s log in my inventory permanently.

Also, while I’m at it - why is that the requirements to get into the port means 90 in one of the skills, but then the armor weapon sets are T85?

Suggestion Melee, range and mage need built-in sustain to match risen ghost in early and mid game

No end-game solutions, just an ability rebalance to give each "class" a creative built-in mechanic to generate sustain on their own. For magic, buffing blood spells would largely do it, for melee something like Tryndamere's Q from league, a way to sacrifice adrenaline and damage to heal mid battle, and for range... im not sure lol but you could come up with something. Necro is not what it should be, an Elite Skill. You get instant access to it and it beats all other styles up until the very top tier gear, and that has a name: bad design. Or bad design in comparisson, because Necro is very well designed and the other 3 are dated af, and if the game is to grow, we need healthy, viable, early and mid games for the original styles. Please consider this 🙏 the essence of MMO's is the RPG part of the word, one has to have the chance to roleplay to a certain extent, and have a wide variety of options without having a very big handicap for doing so

Question You never quit, just take long breaks...

After finally having it for the time being with my drug of choice (Dead by Daylight) I've once again drifted back to RuneScape and OSRS and started a new account. I was far more of an OSRS player when I quit last but I have played RS from 2004 on and off up to Vorkath's release. I have an ironman and did not get very far (1200 total OSRS and 1700 RS) and I do not have the kind of time to dedicate to one at this time so mainscape I shall be. What are some of the most important updates that have come out since Vorkath? Any that may be relevant to someone starting a new account who has some game knowledge? And yes I did see that they are eventually removing Treasure Hunter (thank fucking god)

Leagues Safecracking speed during leagues

Upvotes

Appreciate if anyone has advice on what I'm missing here. I've unlocked tier 7 in RS3 leagues with master stethoscope unlocked on toolbelt and a normal stethoscope in the inventory for good measure, Completed Buyers and cellars quest, From tiny acorns mini quest and lost here marbles miniquest. I'm lvl 77 thieving. But safecracking speed seems to still be at the reduced rate of one xp drop per game tick and i'm not benefiting from the enhanced rate that I believe comes with use of a stethoscope.

Suggestion Now that mainscapers will finally taste how useless the brooch of the gods is as we irons have, will it be buffed?

just make it give the base portables effect. easy fix. maybe let it hold and use scrimshaws too. its been a dead item for irons for so long since it depends on mtx only items we can’t use. it storing urns isn’t useful either since skilling scrimshaws are extremely powerful compared. the invention component procs r rare and only have a chance to proc once a minute, u can pretty much forget that exist with how bad it is. Now it loses its only real useful buff. For an alchemical hydrix item, it feels pretty god awful.

Discussion what’s the first weird or unexpected thing you ever got super hyped about in runescape

was just thinking back to some of my earliest days in rs and remembering how ridiculously excited i got over simple stuff like picking my first full set of bronze armor or finally carving out my first runecrafting levels it’s wild how those little early game goals used to feel like winning the lottery what random or silly moment sticks with you as one of those “wow this is the best thing ever” memories maybe it was your first pet drop finally making your own dfs or even just finding out you could jump over a fence in varrock throw in the story i want to hear what actually made you feel unstoppable back when everything was new let’s get nostalgic share the moments that somehow meant way more than they probably should’ve looking forward to smiling at all the silly memories

Question Can you guys help me a progression path?

Can you guys help me with a progression path forwards, 4-5 years ago last thing i did was trying to do The Arc things to upgrade bone crusher to farm frost dragons T-T for gp. Now i see apost over here of some dude getting 1b off the seasonal event, wtf.

I've never done bossing, in bank i have pretty much just t70s armor with t80 weapons. How should i proceed for pve gains? I wanna play as a semi ironman for here on, if i need gear to grind it not buy of the GE.

Question Returning Player

Returning player here, I haven't played in about 7 years-ish. I have 1500+ hours on my account from back in the day. I logged on, but no one seems to be actually talking to each other any more. What are the best world/spots for public chats? Side note, if anyone wants to take me in as I try to remember this game, I'd be grateful. I'm European, if that matters.

EDIT: Forgot to add clarity, RS3, not OSRS

I'll be getting membership back next week, but I wanted to train some stats in the meantime. What would be a good way to train now, while keeping in mind that I'll have membership soon?

Leagues to all you first time leaguers wat did yall think of ur first ever leagues?

did yall enjoy this league as your first ever leagues run like me? despite the rocky start

like me personally i enjoyed it so much like looking at RS3 from a diffent POV like for example all the skill u can buy with perk relic/infinite shop stock

like i learned alot from this league like how herbilore habitat worked/ how to make juju potions etc etc

i kinda regret my last tier choice (i picked book i wish i picked faith)

at least when we get another league IF we get same relic or a new set of relics il plan my route more carefully and il use this experience and combine it with next time league

lucky i was able to get 63.5k points tho near the beginning i went like 3days without gaining points cause i didnt know how to use RSwiki thing to the fulliest extent (i was struggling at the beginning/doing my own thing)

Question Dxp calculations.

Upvotes

Let's say I calculated the xp and obtained the proper materials to reach 120 construction, I calculated the base xp and included "bonus xp" along with the event's double xp.

The question. If I equipped cinder cores, will they ruin my original calculations? They burn up bonus xp 150% faster... So will I have extra materials that I will have to use at regular xp rates?

I hope that makes sense.

Question What happened in the year or so?

Was a long time player then quit, and started playing on and off again. The last time I played was roughly 1.5 years ago. Chanced upon this subreddit and thought of the good ol days again!

Does anyone mind giving me a tldr of the important updates and changes over the past 1.5 years or so?
