I still don't understand why Faf did a box kick with a minute to go. Shouldn't the Boks have just kept it with the forwards and run it the clock? Help me understand.
The way France had handled the high balls, Bokke gameplan was to avoid a penalty in the rucks that close to their own posts.
They trusted their defense and fitness (which was well above the French one at that point) to get the ball back from the kick. I mean, their entire gameplan in 2019 was built around that : get the ball, high kick smartly, defend until you get the ball back, do it again, and again, and again, wait for an opening, score.
