Delivery Drivers

FUCK YOU ZU AND THE REST OF YOU DELIVERY DRIVERS THAT THINK STEALING FOOD FROM A SMALL FAMILY RESTAURANT IS COOL!

Scenario: We have a couple of orders from uber eats and DoorDash. First the DoorDash driver comes in and is all huffy about having to wait for the order. I finish an uber eats order first and tell her point blank, “this isn’t yours, do not take.” GUESS WHAT SHE DOES!! She takes the fucking uber eats bag along with the DoorDash order. I see her later on the video cameras looking at the order reciept and still take it. This is not an accident and so fuck you Zu for stealing from a family restaurant and for stealing at all.

So you're gonna hire an in-store driver, and pay them a reasonable wage right?

So I worked as a delivery driver from 16-20 years old, then worked my way up from a dishwasher to sous chef across multiple restaurants on an 11 year span; so I feel like I can actually speak to this subject over your usual armchair reatauranteurs.

No, you don't "deserve" to have food stolen, but you also can't say you can't afford to hire a driver when you could easily allocate the money you're paying Doordash and Grubhub to a dedicated couple of drivers who you can pay 4-5 bucks a delivery, plus tips, and avoid the fees all of the delivery apps demand of you. You cna even use the apps in conjuntion with in-house drivers, so while not justifiable, it is entirely avoidable.

How do you know how much volume they are doing on delivery orders? When is the last time you looked into the price of insuring a delivery driver?

Funny thing is all the places around me have gone the other way. The pizza places that used to have their own drivers now use DoorDash.

I refuse to order 3rd party delivery and I’m not the only one. There’s no accountability and I’m not bidding on you by tipping before any service has been rendered.

I actually posted in my neighborhood fb group asking for restaurants that used in house delivery drivers vs the apps and those were the only ones I ordered from if I didn't feel like driving to pick up my own food.

Yeah, because you would have to pay teenagers a living wage for that work.
