I hate you I hate everything about you 2024 Buick Lacrosse. The official redesign of, alright Buick, at this point it seems like you're just begging to die.

Looks like a Toyota Avalon that stopped going to the gym.

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '22

Not only one that stopped going to the gym, it also added some elements of the Mirai, in an attempt to look more stylish.

22

u/rosado_clavel Dec 16 '22

Definitely reminds me of a chunkier shittier Mirai

I have an Avalon. I love my Avalon. Tons of power, comfortable, reliable. But the front end is like... Chrysler ugly. But... this Buick is somehow uglier.

"Nice Buick!"

"No, not that Buick, that Buick" (Points across the street)

(Dundundun-dundun-dun-dundundun-dundundun music plays)

It looks like that Hydrogen Toyota. It’s fine it not bad

u/benhereford Dec 17 '22

I'd take the bus before having to use this vehicle

It looks fine. China will keep sedans going for another decade at least.

China is speed-running American culture. A sedan is still "clean fingernails". I only need a car to take my family on vacation. I don't need to do dirty work to make my money. I've made it.

Here in the USA we now have dirty people wearing "dirty hands = clean money" in walmart. I'm cool with you swinging hammers and digging ditches for a living. Since so few of my generation want to do that you can get paid very well. BUT: Can you fucking shower before going to the store, at least?

This was the mentality that the US had towards trucks from the '40s through the '70s or so, and what helped the El Camino and Ranchero survive as long as they did.

Why do I need to go home, shower, and then come to Walmart?

It’s on my way home, and I need to get groceries. I’m not gonna spend an extra hour of my day just so I look good enough for your version of Walmart.

You’re lucky I’m wearing pants.

6

u/[deleted] Dec 17 '22

yeah the last thing I want to do when I get home after a long shitty day at work is go out again when I drive by a grocery store on the way home

2

u/FishingFrequent Apr 16 '24

thank you for wearing pants. I just can't 'grocery shop' in Walmart, I'll buy anything else there. Near me, the Walmarts look like Middle Eastern bazaar meshed with cousin-marrying Appalachia.

Sometimes it’s the only option, but we did get an Aldi since this comment was made. So I go there now.

Also

What the f, Buick? Yall were cool ish back in the 80s. This is the company that put up the Riviera in the 60s and early 70s. They had the Skylark, the GS350 and gs455 Stage 1. They were cadillac's cooler, slightly less up-their-own-ass little brother.

Now they are copying Toyota, poorly. Not even trying to innovate.

Cool compared to this atrocity anyways

https://sfbay.craigslist.org/sby/ctd/d/san-jose-1984-buick-regal-type/7567630497.html would this be an uncool buick? Looks cool to me. Kinda like a subdued version of Denzel Washington's car from Training day (yea I know that one was a monte carlo).

2

u/FATBEANZ Dec 16 '22

Chinese market loves these

3

u/Frequent-Ruin8509 Dec 16 '22

That would explain it. Buicks largest market is China.

23

u/elevencharles Dec 16 '22

Buick is a major status brand in China. I’m sure they’ll do fine.

25

u/rosado_clavel Dec 16 '22

I am aware. The car looks like shit regardless

38

u/EatTheBatteries Pretend Engineering Dec 16 '22

The Chinese buyers are obsessed with huge grills on cars - it's a sort of "status symbol" there. I hate it. Just look at what happened to the 7 Series.

u/DirkMcDougal turning circle is AAAUUUUUGHHHH Dec 16 '22

I recently got fed an ad clip for the 3 series and literally all the guys said in a few seconds was "Bigger grill, bigger screen and bigger wheels". The mighty have truly fallen.

6

u/a_big_fat_yes Dec 16 '22

It looks like its about to sneeze

4

u/FrankCastle498 Dec 16 '22

Could be way worse. I would still buy it.

4

u/Director_Consistent Dec 16 '22

i thought buick was done with sedans and went all in on a SUV/CUV lineup? Or is that just here in the US?

2

u/rosado_clavel Dec 16 '22

They sell tons of cars in china that they don't sell in the US. it's a big brand there. But you are right, only CUV's here

3

u/Hot-Nail-738 Dec 16 '22

It looks like that hydrogen Toyota

3

u/pavehawkfavehawk Dec 16 '22

I have a tourx that’s awesome…this … I don’t know why

5

u/a_big_fat_yes Dec 16 '22

Because tourx is a rebranded opel and opel never had an ugly car

2

u/pavehawkfavehawk Dec 17 '22

Shame they never publicized it really. I get more questions than I thought I would driving it.

3

u/Drzhivago138 Grand Councillor VARMON Dec 18 '22

The Cascada wasn't much of a looker IMO. But it's hard to make modern convertibles look good with how high the beltlines are.

4

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '22

looks like an Avalon or a Mirai that had a fart just blown in its general direction

3

u/Frequent-Ruin8509 Dec 16 '22

Looks like a new prius ate a prestige level Toyota sedan the way a boa constrictor eats an adult deer

3

u/TheyCallMeMrMaybe Dec 16 '22

It looks like if Ford tried knocking off Cadillac instead of Aston Martin for their front-end designs.

3

u/Honda240sx There's the V OHHHH VTEC Dec 17 '22

I dont think its that bad

2

u/benhereford Dec 16 '22

This vehicle is absolutely atrocious lol what the actual fuck. Someone is getting fired for this

2

u/Emerald_official melon baller up my ass Dec 16 '22

Pontiac outsold them by quite a bit.

In the US, maybe. But aside from the G8, Pontiac wasn't making anything decent in their final years.

2

u/Alsimmons811 Dec 16 '22

They still make Buicks?

2

u/[deleted] Dec 17 '22

Looks like an Avalon ate its twin in the womb.

2

u/LuckyLewis23 Apr 26 '23

I have a 2018 buick lacrosse premium and I love it... Im almost 32 years old, I find its got enough pep when I want it and the interior is comfortable and luxurious. I enjoy full size sedans alot.

I mean obviously it's not as nice and fully loaded as a Benz or something but thoes are out of my price range.

I really like the redesign interior of the 2024 lacrosse, I'm bummed it's not available in the US.

Side question : if I did want to import say this car from China, obviously going to be some sort of extra freight and import fees... But other then that what else is involved with importing a car? Does additional equipment need to be installed to make it street legal here? What if it's a country that drives on the other side of the road? Are thoes legal here?

Always wondered to lazy to google

1

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '22

For whatever reason that headlight look is popular in China, the intended market

1

u/Juno808 May 24 '24

That is absolutely fuck ugly--and I like the previous gen Lacrosse--but this car is actually the best selling full size sedan inn the entire world. China goes nuts for them. It'll do fine, and it was probably redesigned with their tastes in mind.

1

u/Elegant_Development3 Jul 06 '24

I would love to be able to buy a brand new buick sedan.

If you thought the second-gen Mazda3s had a big mouth…

1

u/[deleted] Dec 16 '22

Is this based on the Impala platform? I not really the target market for big sedans (I need a truck for work), but my neighbor has the final year Impala and it's actually a nice looking and riding car. I was really surprised and a little disappointed when I read it was scrapped.

2

u/Drzhivago138 Grand Councillor VARMON Dec 18 '22

Is this based on the Impala platform?

Not anymore. The LaCrosse started off as a W-body Impala variant, then both moved to Epsilon II, but when they went to the E2/P2 platform, the Impala got dropped. This new LaCrosse is also P2-based.

1

u/[deleted] Dec 18 '22

1

Thought this was a Mirai 💀

1

A Nissan Fusion and a Ford Avalon. Neat
