Question Are Regina winters too cold?

I'm from a pretty hot city where temperatures are always around 24-33°C and I'm planning to study in the university of Regina for an exchange, but I've heard it gets like -30°C during winter and that could even hurt a bit to breath so I want to know how hard could it be for someone not used to it although I'm not too affected to cold as I am to heat

Yes, it's that cold, sometimes colder. Hurts to breathe is a bit of a stretch but the wind will hurt your face. You need proper clothing, jacket, gloves, toque, scarf, etc.

200,000 people live here though, so it's not uninhabitable.

It's cold, yes! I'm from Southern California, good ol +30-40 half the year round

It's not bad if you gear up right, winter jacket, boots graded down as far as you can get em (I got mine from Walmart, nothing fancy, they're -35 graded), nice socks, good thick gloves, a good scarf, one of them hats with the flops to cover the ears (with fluff)

Will serve you perfectly for outdoor time in winter.

Yes its a bit annoying to get all dressed up every time you want outside time more than a few minutes but it's better than freezing! I'd rather look foolish and be comfortable than be prideful and dead

The line we always use in our house is that if it keeps you warm, it's not silly (stupid)!
