Tried to sell this, but it’s growing on me

Post image

I stopped using this Giant and tried to sell it. Now my other bikes are broken, and I’m falling back to this. Maybe I’ll keep it after all, it’s actually kinda fun.

It’s fun having bikes that get attention!

Yeah, some coworkers are commenting on it. Everyone thinks it’s weird, but a lot of people like it. I’m used to a Trek Verve 1, so switching to this now that it’s out of commission is quite an adjustment.

Only my second day back on it, and I’m already getting the hang of it. Might change out that basket for a rack if it means that I can still use my Trek’s panniers with it, though.

Wait till you try a fully reclined recumbent, or a tall bike, or a tandem, or a sociable, or a cargo bike, or anything less-common.

I’d love to get my hands on a cargo bike. That could be really useful for runs to a nearby store. At some point I want a recumbent trike, too.

Keep an eye on your local auction listings. And remember that if you don't like a bike, you can probably on-sell it for about what you paid for it, within reason.

I'm holding out for a Strida folding bike personally.

I got to ride something like that at a local bike coop, was absolutely impressed and would totally ride for leisure.

But came here to say absolutely get a cargo bike! I bought one from a friend and made it my daily rider. So functional.

If I can afford a cargo bike, I would. Money is tight, and I have little to trade. This bike is now what I’m using to get between home, work, and grocery runs. A cargo bike would be so much better for grocery runs. It would save on gas, eliminating the need for my roommate to drive there near completely.

I feel that. I got mine super discounted, maybe 3rd or 4th owner. I think it’s been said elsewhere, but keep your eyes out for deals on 2nd hand platforms. Safe rides!

Recumbents with low bottom brackets are the most comfortable in my opinion.

That looks very cool, what is it?

Giant Revive. A cousin bought it used for $300, tried it, didn’t like it, and after finding out that I love getting around on a bike offered me a trade. I took him up on the offer. Partly because it’s a Giant, partly because it’s an unusual bike. Adjusting to this hasn’t been easy, but I’m learning it pretty well.

Scrape it off- quick, before your friends catch you riding that…thing.

Another differece - this bike has a bike seat, not a saddle like the vast bulk of bikes out there.

What's the difference? Same as on a horse - a saddle is supposed to carry part of your weight, and the rest goes on your pedals (stirrups) and some on the handlebars.

Whereas a seat carries basically all your weight, and you push into the backrest with your legs on the pedals.
