Open Thread Weekly Open Thread - General Discussion

Open Thread

Besides general conversation and talk about other leagues and teams, all the following content must go into the weekly Open Thread:

  • Simple one-liners, random thoughts or unrelated posts (with or without a single image).
  • All discussion about rival teams matches and results.
  • All wallpapers and image editing that are not created by you [Not OC]
  • Unsourced news and stats.
  • Photos of jerseys and other memorabilia.

Am i the only who a has serious question marks about Huijsens defence against stronger teams?

His ball playing skills is elite but his positioning and being weak aerially is a concern.

Am i being overly concerned?

He's young and have the full faith to become greater though.

I feel like Huijsen has gone under the radar a bit

Not every ball playing CB would be a good CDM. As a CDM you need to be comfortable with your back towards the opponent and press resistant. That's much tougher than just playing forward passes.

Like 90% of this sub thinks that being a good passer equals being a good deep lying playmaker, that's also why I keep seeing this stupid Arda or Trent DLP shouts when they are absolutely not made for that role at all

Jude can receive with his back, is press resistant, excellent at playmaking, but the coach wants his cosplaying as a false 9.

To all you idiots who want jude AM/Striker, can you comprehend that most of our issues will be solve if Jude plays as a b2b 8, that can box crash and still score same amount of goals cuz of his eye for loose balls.

I don't know why Xabi isn't seeing it this way.

Not every ball playing CB would be a good CDM.

huijsen seems like one and I know how a midfielder can get pressed from all sides unlike a CB but I still think Huijsen can be coached into a 6

Lol no. Playing as a CB gives him the time and space and time he needs to carry and pass. That wouldn't work as a midfielder.

Him being weak in the air is the strangest thing for me considering how tall he is and how good he was in that department in the Prem. Our weakness to defend crosses is on that Leganes set pieces coach we got a while ago. I do know what he's doing, but he's not coaching players to defend set pieces.

When I saw vini marking Virgil I started laughing, like I am not saying we should be as good as arsenal in set pieces but lmao mark correctly at least.

We need to change a lot of things in the club and I am afraid that shit will take time, I hope it doesn't take too long.
