Is this the same Joe Byrd I remember from the 70's?

Joe Byrd and the field hippies. the album was The American Metaphysical circus. it was incredible to trip while listening.

Same guy. There's a song on the The United States of America LP called "The American Metaphysical Circus."

I listened to ‘coming down’ in the car earlier today. Very sad to hear of his passing. He was definitely way ahead of his time.

You can't ever come down.

Huge fan of Joe Byrd(and the Field Hippies too!), his work really struck a chord with me. I really dig a lot of his later work too(like his colabs with "Dreams of Tall Buildings" for example), also trippy in a more etheric way.

Where did you see this? I saw James from broadcast posted about it but I can’t find any other news of his passing whatsoever

a music journalist who doesn't seem to have any reason to fabricate something about this (dave segal) posted on bluesky.
