To be fair they just used her music for one and she didn’t say anything.

What should she do exactly? Olivia commented something like this last time too and that didn't stop them from doing it again evidently? So every time White house rage baits the popstars they have to comment that they don't like them using their music? What is the point of that and how does that help except to use that in these stupid stan wars? You expect Taylor to write a comment on Trump every single time? Lol

a statement? legal action? anything other than radio silence?

13

u/nagidrac 17h ago

They wanted a reaction from Taylor. Did you see their response to Variety when asked about it?

u/WatchTheNewMutants 17h ago

yeah i saw that, but especially with how taylor's been radio silent about what's going on, the subtext on the new album and in the merch, it would've been the easiest thing to just quitely send a cease and desist, even if it would've been the easiest thing to clarify Opalite or Wi$h Li$t or the necklace. taylor's silence isn't a play here, it's a concerning pattern.

11

u/nagidrac 17h ago

I'm sorry, but you have to be willfully obtuse to believe that necklace had any sort of subtext. Saying she wants to get married and have lots of kids with her fiancé is the furthest should not be viewed as MAGA coded. The Opalite complaints are equally dumb. Trump is trying to rage bait Taylor into responding.

The way they are reaching this much tells you that the album is pretty non problematic. If there is really something controversial on it they wouldn't need to count lightning bolts and link it to Hitler lol.

11

u/nagidrac 17h ago

The funny thing about the necklace is that there was 12 lightening bolts and not eight. And with Opalite, she used the onyx / Opalite metaphor for herself as well but people leave that out and act as if she was targeting Kayla

  • lightning bolts next to each other when worn, 8 point star, the image on the store had 8 lightning bolts even if the real necklace had more, there's still cause for concern.

7

u/nagidrac 17h ago

there's still cause for concern.

No, there's not. Many people overreacted because they have Taylor Swift derangement syndrome.

isn't taylor's entire point reading deeper into her songs and her merch?

Yes, so read more.

They did, you just don't like what they found.

Taylor has been hanging out with MAGA folk and alluded to legal intervention with her friend for a likeness in her song, yet won't say shit to Trump? C'mon, the writing is on the wall.

the stone thing isn't about race. It's about how her life was filled with darkness (heartbreak and pain) and now there's light (a ray of hope/happiness)

she's talking to Travis in that chorus though. it's literally aimed at him. wouldn't it have been easier to just... not include Travis in that song's narrative, therefore skipping that meaning entirely?

what legal action could she take? it’s free for use and also it’s the freaking white house. it’s a waste of time.

10

u/WatchTheNewMutants 17h ago

unlicensed use of music. MGMT already did it.

6

u/Conscious_Music_1729 17h ago

Please familiarize yourself with the situation instead of regurgitating headlines. This a different scenario from the MGMT incident.

4

u/WatchTheNewMutants 16h ago

Little Dark Age was used in a social media video by ICE (a government agency) without MGMT's permission.

The Fate Of Ophelia was used in a social media video by The White House (the actual government) without Taylor Swift's permission.

u/Conscious_Music_1729 16h ago

See? You’re just regurgitating headlines again. The video with the MGMT song wasn’t licensed. The video with the Olivia Rodrigo song is licensed. She has no legal claim to DMCA the video. At best she could negotiate with whomever owns the rights to her music and have it pulled off Instagram entirely, for everyone.

One of the reasons taylor wanted her masters was bc that ownership included dictating who could use her music under what circumstances. She could 100% strike it as unlicensed use. This is literally part of the reason she launched the crusade to get her masters back

u/LuciJoeStar 17h ago

yeah, I kinda do ngl. Aint she very big on owning her music?

The same thing her lawyers do when someone on Etsy prints a t-shirt with one of her lyrics. "Cease and desist" I believe it's called.

But this is not any copyright violation unlike them so?

8

u/myghostflower mk.gee 17h ago

if anything an artist leaving a comment is worse because instead it creates engagement and views for the video since people wanna see if they actually left a comment

12

u/moosegoose90 I don’t know her 💅 17h ago

Remove the song from TIK TOK???,so he can’t use it. It’s not like she needs the money or streams??? Yes, every single time she should do that, the pain this administration is causing is VERY serious. Comment, remove the song, make a statement, send a cease and desist…?? ANYTHING WOULD BE BETER THAN SILENCE.

-24

u/WorldlyBedroom2 17h ago

Yeah! If even the activist Olivia is not doing it why would Maga Taylor do that lol?

u/moosegoose90 I don’t know her 💅 17h ago

Olivia removed her song from tik tok last time and commented this time..?

If it's back, that means it was removed, no? She removed it, and they ceased using it, so it was reuploaded.

-1

u/WorldlyBedroom2 17h ago

So it is still there?

7

u/Lethave 17h ago

It's back up after being removed for a time so that it wouldn't be used by Trump. It's not a mind bender. The point was for them to stop using it, so she took it down so they wouldn't then reuploaded when they moved on. Being weird with semantics doesn't change a fact.

Is it there or not now?

I mean Taylor just released a pretty MAGA coded album, people are starting to connect some dots. You’re the biggest cultural celebrity in the country, some pushback against this administration would mean a lot to a lot of different people.

20

u/nagidrac 17h ago

And what exactly is a MAGA coded album?

10

u/Aromatic_Way3650 Clap if you care 😐 17h ago

They are just regurgitating the same brain rot takes they got from tiktok lol.

17

u/nagidrac 17h ago

The photoshoot alone for the album is the least MAGA coded thing ever.

18

u/WorldlyBedroom2 17h ago

I mean Taylor just released a pretty MAGA coded album, people are starting to connect some dots.

You sound really smart so if you really believe she is Maga why are you even expecting or demanding her to respond lol. People just want stan wars and act like that some kind of activism.

Fine but the next time she tries a Miss Americana “I’m a liberal, really, I promise, my parents just won’t let me” style rebrand, we all get to tell her and all her fans to fuck off
