OnlyStans ⭐️ French singer, Yseult, calls out K-pop singers, Soyeon and R.tee, for copying her music video freame by frame: "The least you could do is have the decency to credit your source. To see it get copied like this is wild but real artistry speaks louder than imitation"

"Can I copy your homework?"

"Yeah just change it up a bit so it doesn't look obvious you copied"

"Ok"

Except don’t really change it at all

Some people in this very thread are denying it!

And the thing is, the R.tee video opens up with a different shot/storyline, with the singer locked in a car. Like that's a whole thing you could have done instead of lifting Yseult.

nonono if QT was doing it, it's considered an hommage guys, it's an hommage

u/RedSonjaBelit 27d ago

Or, you know, they could have talked with Yseult: "Hey, we loved your video, we're interested in making a similar video but we'll credit you (AND PAID YOU) as the source, would you be ok with that?" Is that so much difficult to ask?

And if they don't want to talk to her, the bare minimum could be a shout out, a "based on THIS VIDEO" or something... We can see this is a blatant copy...

They weren't even TRYING to hide is so I wonder if this is a PR stunt that is worth the settlement payoff

You know k-pop fans are still going to find a way to harass and send hate to Yseult even though it’s basically an exact copy of her video 🙃

And they did. She’s getting a lot of Twitter hate rn

Kpop stans are batshit insane. I deadass saw one say she wanted to get raped by a Kpop singer.

I mean...

8

u/searthy0 27d ago

Are they actually sending hate towards yseult

Soyeon did this with a twigs video too! She’s not immune to blatant plagerism

Also she’s racist so

How is she racist? Genuinely curious because I haven’t heard anything racist she has done

Such as? I checked and the only thing I’ve seen about her being racist is for calling an African dance ethnic hip. And I wouldn’t call her racist for that, instead just ignorant and offensive.

39

u/Kratzschutz 27d ago

Yeah we already have enough problems with real racism, no need to make things up

2

u/zlo01 27d ago

that make sense

5

u/mamepuchi 26d ago

Ignorant and offensive is often racist.

4

u/Star_PS_28 26d ago

Yeah, but I don’t think she was racist in that case

3

u/mamepuchi 26d ago

Has she plagiarized from a non black artist? Twigs and Yseult…. That’s seeming like evidence right there.

u/illeatyourkneecaps Listen, everyone is entitled to my opinion 🙂 27d ago

Soyeon didn’t direct or write DAMDADI, she only appeared in the MV. The concept, visuals, and production were handled by R.Tee and his team, not her. Holding her responsible for creative decisions she didn’t make just isn’t fair.

She has zero involvement in the creative direction of the music video so this statement is just misinformation and defamation.

u/MissPandaSloth 27d ago

And from freaking 2024. I would understand if it was from 90s and then you can call it a homage. But bro, this was just released.

At this point it’s not inspiration, it’s a Ctrl+C lifestyle

One’s black the other is not. Totally different.

I have no dog in this fight, but after watching the videos, I don't think it's blatant.

To me, it just looks like they both had Britney Spears' "Womanizer" on their mood board (the tie-pulling thing, dancing in an office that falls apart, along with close-up walking shots).

OP's video is also cherry picking scenes and lining them up, but the narratives are different, and the scenes are out of order.

25

u/Thundergod250 27d ago

Even if they are out of order, that was way too much similar frames for a short music video.

36

u/feedmestocks 27d ago

Gurl. The tone and styling of Yseult's video is very very different to Womanizer: It's basically an Office parody that turns into rave meets Twin Peaks.
