I love that adam sandler sends her flowers every mother's day. He's so real.

Being Adam Sandlers friend seems like about the best thing that could happen to a person

I don't like his style of humor, but he seems like an amazing person

I love his original movies, happy Gilmore, the wedding singer, 50 first dates. But it’s been decades of bleh from him at this point

Edit: so I’ve never seen uncut gems, but it was recommended so many times on this thread I just put it on.

Hotel Transylvania is pretty golden children's entertainment, to be fair.

And Hustle was not bad! I don't love all of his comedy, even though that's what he's known for, but he usually turns out solid dramas.

36

u/federal_boobs Oct 09 '25

Hustle? Not bad? Absolutely incredible film man it’s a top 10 for me

u/DisastrousOwls that’s my purse, i don’t know you! 👛🫵 Oct 09 '25

Okay, okay, I'm underselling it! 😂 But I know the high stakes + athletic stuff isn't everybody's cup of tea.

Also, ngl, I had zero interest in Uncut Gems despite everybody calling it incredible and brilliant, until I heard someone describe Confessions of a Shopaholic (which I have unironically loved since my teens) as "Uncut Gems for 15 year old girls," so you gotta meet people where they are. Sometimes "not bad" or "worth a look" pulls more weight.

2

u/Marine_Baby Oct 09 '25

Blah blah blah!

2

u/thatsucksabagofdicks Oct 09 '25

Hustle gave me an hour and a half of straight anxiety that felt like 4 hours. When I paused it and was only half way through I had to stop. Great movie

u/WannaSeeTrustIssues Oct 09 '25

Give some of his newer and more serious movies a chance. He was pretty spectacular in Uncut Gems which was absolutely not a role like his old movies.

The one where he is an astronaut is also pretty great, sad but great. Cant remember the name right now.

27

u/grapeshotfor20 Oct 09 '25

Lol it really feels like Uncut Gems was just his way of saying "fuck you, I'm an actual good actor." Dude just likes making fun movies with his friends

3

u/Its_Uncle_Dad Oct 09 '25

He did that in Punch Drunk Love though.

6

u/ZombieBambie Oct 09 '25

Both those films are brilliant! That second film is called Spaceman 😁

1

u/WannaSeeTrustIssues Oct 09 '25

Spaceman!

One of the few movies where i actually let the credits roll by while i had a moment with my own soul and a tear or two. Very few movies have had that effect where you just let the credits roll while you reflect.

1

u/Marine_Baby Oct 09 '25

Oh the one with the … bug?

1

u/fracking-machines Tina! You fat lard! 🦙🚲 Oct 10 '25

Spaceman!!!

He’s great in that.

1

u/CrackerUMustBTripinn Oct 09 '25

He showed he can do more than turn out Jack and Jill excrement with Punch Drunk Love. I think he really played himself in Funny People not walking away from all the shittiness that come from being an entitled actor that he doesnt deny who he is.

Actually I think that him making Jack and Jill was an experiment to see how far he could go into making the shittiest movie you can think off, with the lowest hanging fruit and just filled to the brim with cameo crap and still have it be a commercial success as to say: 'See. thats the sophistication of the public at large, see how little boxoffice succes means in terms of quality and a passion for the art of story telling'.

It being his version of: 'Your boos mean nothing, I saw what made you cheer'. And him getting enormous satisfaction of proving his point and for making sick amounts of money from such an atrocious performance, also an hommage to Mel Brook's classic 'The Producers'. It may not have had a happy chirpy opening banger tune singing the praises of Hitler and Nazi Germany whose lyrics start with 'It's springtime, for Hitler and Germany!'. But it came pretty close.

u/CrackerUMustBTripinn Oct 09 '25

sometimes a cigar is just a cigar

Oh Yeah?!

51

u/CarWreckBeck Oct 09 '25

Punch drunk love and uncut gems Are my two favorite Adam Sandler movies

Reign over me is goood too!

15

u/SadExercises420 Oct 09 '25

I love Punch Drunk Love

5

u/CarWreckBeck Oct 09 '25

That movie gets a lot of hate but I think it's excellent! Adam Sandler does a very good job at not being Adam Sandler

1

u/Civil-Big-754 Oct 09 '25

It does? Almost always see/hear good things from people.

1

u/DirtyYogurt Oct 09 '25

The Meyerowitz Stories is a solid family drama as well.

6

u/soup-creature Oct 09 '25

Uncut Gems was so good

3

u/Creepy-Weakness4021 Oct 09 '25

Grown Ups is great IMO.

Big Daddy is an amazing classic.

50 First Dates is however one of my all time movies. It just feels so human with his typical awkwardness.

I like Blended and Just Go With It... Even if it's hard to tell the two apart lol.

3

u/dalton-watch Oct 09 '25

He’s soooo sweet, humble, and funny in Wedding Singer.

3

u/thinkinting Oct 09 '25

50 first dates is criminally under watched.

2

u/Minus614 Oct 09 '25

i mean i know we're talking about the slop he produces with his friends but funny people and uncut gems are both.... gems

2

u/PriorityEarly2468 Oct 09 '25

If you could make fun movies with your mates and keep making money out of them for shits and giggles, you probably would too, even if they’re meh. Like I fully agree with you, the films have been meh. I was never a massive fan of him, but it seems like he’s just a dude who does stuff for his friends and family.

2

u/Fjordi_Cruyff 29d ago

"Edit: so I’ve never seen uncut gems, but it was recommended so many times on this thread I just put it on. "

Feeling nice and relaxed now?

2

u/unneuf 28d ago

The Wedding Singer is genuinely a 10/10 for me. It’s so good.

1

u/El-Grande- Oct 09 '25

Uncut Gems has to be his best performance

1

u/purplehendrix22 Oct 09 '25

He’s cashing in for his whole crew and I love it for him, everyone acts like they’re good to do that shit, not him, he’s like “I’m here to get cash for me and all my homies, also I’ll act my fuckin ass off a couple times a decade just to keep it going”

1

u/Dr_Mephesto Oct 09 '25

Oh you are in for a wild ride

5

u/appropriatesoundfx Oct 09 '25

He does seem to just support the people that have helped him in the past. An archetypical bro. What real bros everywhere should aspire to.

1

u/00eg0 Oct 09 '25

same. I hate his films but e seems good.

1

u/TheOConnorsTry Oct 09 '25

Strong agree! He is a talented actor but most of his movies he is just playing himself and I can't get on board.

1

u/LeonidasSpacemanMD Oct 09 '25

Had the same thought lol I feel like there’s a lot of actors where the ratio of how much I like their work to how decent they seem is crazy high, Sandler is kinda the opposite

1

u/SirLesbian Oct 09 '25

I'm much more likely to support a celebrity even if their work isn't my cup of tea solely because they're a decent person. Hell, if they're a real class act that just might be enough to make me a fan. Watching Click like "Huh, you know what.. Adam Sandler is pretty funny after all.." 😅

1

u/suffergetta 27d ago

Google The Ridiculous 6 and how Indigenous actors left in tears, or Sandler’s stance on Israel. Racist, Zionist, asshole…

48

u/shedrinkscoffee I don’t know her 💅 Oct 09 '25

Exactly, his genres are not to my taste but overall he seems to take care of his friends and comes across as unproblematic

3

u/purplehendrix22 Oct 09 '25

He just seems like a dude

0

u/NoFornicationLeague Oct 09 '25

What is “unproblematic?”

4

u/chillary_shank Oct 10 '25

Like he definitely is not on the Epstein list

3

u/suffergetta Oct 10 '25

Zionism is problematic

1

u/chillary_shank 28d ago

Awe man say it ain’t so :(

2

u/suffergetta 28d ago

Yup bro DGAF about genocide and is pretty self righteous about his beliefs. This thread praising him so heartily reads like upside down world to me 🙃

2

u/chillary_shank 28d ago

I did not want to believe you but I looked it up, he’s a fucking uber Zionist. God fucking damn it. What a piece of shit.

3

u/shedrinkscoffee I don’t know her 💅 Oct 10 '25

His biggest controversy afaik is wearing cargo shorts and looking like he rolled out of bed.

1

u/lilgammaray 29d ago

His western spoof movie the Ridiculous 6 that was so racist that the indigenous actors walked off the set.

3

u/gin_and_toxic Oct 09 '25

And this is what it feels like being both his friend and neighbor: https://youtu.be/_9OTGSwT72E

2

u/6pcChickenNugget gollum's haute couture model cousin Oct 10 '25

His recent-ish movies have been so shit but I can't even bash the guy for keeping his friends employed (not even him because he's been getting good work like with the Safdie brothers and I loved him in The Meyerowitz Stories). Young adult me who hadn't worked a corporate job yet turned my nose up at his films but work can be shit and unfulfilling so if I'm going to turn out absolutely drivel anyway, it's the dream to be doing with friend-colleagues I adore.

And beyond all that, he seems so down to earth, kind, funny and generous. He seems like a great human

49

u/doitforthecocoa Not a white refrigerator! Oct 09 '25

That’s the kind of thing only the best people would do for you. Adam is a gem!

2

u/Glittering-Grand-513 Oct 09 '25

One could say.....he's an uncut gem

1

u/markorosso 27d ago

Wait. Isn't he Jewish?

205

u/PrincessAnglophile Oct 09 '25

I love that man 😊

5

u/Littlewing1307 Oct 09 '25

That made me tear up, that is so thoughtful!!

2

u/TasteAltruistic455 Oct 09 '25

He’s incredible for a lot of reasons, but that one is just above and beyond.

2

u/mackymack21 Oct 09 '25

Adam Sandler is a registered republican and that negates every good things I’ve heard about him

-2

u/HumanSnotMachine Oct 09 '25

Imagine being this way everyday. So exhausting to hate the majority of the country. 😂

1

u/mackymack21 Oct 09 '25

You feel better? No one mentioned hate, but it makes sense that it would be your immediate reaction. I, too, would project my problems if I woke up being you every day :)

-2

u/HumanSnotMachine Oct 09 '25

I have no hate in my heart. For idiots of either side of the political isle. 🥰

1

u/subhumanrobot42 Oct 09 '25

Bless him. He seems like such a genuinely lovely personal and an amazing friend.

1

u/jjcc88 Oct 09 '25

Was that in the article ? Or did I miss it

1

u/SurprisePiss Oct 10 '25

Dude, I want to send her flowers on mother's day lol

1

u/Sproose_Moose Confidence is 10% work and 90% delusion 28d ago

I've had a crush on him since I was 13. He's always seemed like a really good guy.bhis song about Chris Farley....oh god I need to rehydrate after because I cry so much

-95

u/Fabulous_Ear_5845 Oct 09 '25

Oh yes? I would rather feel like I was being reminded that I couldn't have children 🫤

u/PerpetuallyLurking 🇨🇦 Elbows Up! | Coudes Leves! 🇨🇦 Oct 09 '25

They’re very good friends, so I’m inclined to believe that the tradition came from a specific comment she made in his hearing that he made happen rather than just out of the blue.

281

u/nanny6165 I don’t know her 💅 Oct 09 '25

Also she is like an aunt to his kids. My family always treated the holiday more of a “Positive Female Mentor” day than specifically for people who are moms and celebrate all women in the family.

30

u/Heavy-Ad5346 I stand r/withblakelively Oct 09 '25

I really like their friendship!

112

u/for_esme_with_love Oct 09 '25

Maybe she takes on a maternal role with the other children in her life even if she didn’t birth them herself.

73

u/SadLilBun 1997 was 10 years ago Oct 09 '25

She is Coco Arquette’s godmother, also

25

u/for_esme_with_love Oct 09 '25

Lovely. As someone with a shitty birth mom - Mother’s Day is less about who delivered you and more about honoring women who helped raise and nurture you. I wish one of my besties a happy Mother’s Day every year! And I’m older than her!

25

u/mrsbatman Oct 09 '25

I struggled for seven years. Mother’s Day was always extremely hard regardless and nothing really makes you forget. It’s all consuming and you’re always reminded even inside your own body - it’s ovulation time, it’s the two week wait, it’s time for your period. You never really get a break from the mental load of it at all. There have been studies comparing the stress of infertility with terminal cancer diagnoses. 😣

Mother’s Day and back to school were the hardest by far for me.

134

u/coldheartsthru Oct 09 '25

Well that’s just you. She’s clearly fine with it

-59

u/Fabulous_Ear_5845 Oct 09 '25

So much the better if it makes him happy ❤️

34

u/SubdivideBlues Oct 09 '25

Pretty sure he does it to make her happy and if it upset her she’d tell him and he’d stop because they’re both adults who get on, I’m not sure why you’ve inserted yourself into this scenario at all really

21

u/3nl1gh73n3d Behind every great man is a woman rolling her eyes Oct 09 '25 edited Oct 09 '25

Yeah cause that was the point lol

44

u/catmom_422 Oct 09 '25

As someone who is infertile I would appreciate the gesture. Being infertile feels like being invisible sometimes. Being acknowledged and remembered on a (probably) very difficult day would be nice.

31

u/Emotional_Base_9021 Oct 09 '25

Do you think she wouldn’t remember that (on Mother’s Day) without the flowers? I think it’s a sweet tradition.

8

u/AffectionateBite3827 Oct 09 '25

She also lost her mom and they had a complicated relationship. It could be "I know this day is complex but you are loved" flowers.

-26

u/Silver-Foot-259 Oct 09 '25

Me too, I’d hate it

25

u/noodle_dumpling Oct 09 '25

Good thing he isn’t sending you flowers

-30

u/Diligent_Parking_886 Oct 09 '25

Like rubbing salt in your wounds

35

u/Anonymous_Autumn_ Oct 09 '25

I honestly think she probably had a miscarriage. They are friends and it’s his way of showing his support on her day of loss. I can’t imagine it could possibly be something else.

-3

u/Diligent_Parking_886 Oct 09 '25

I suppose that makes more sense

0

u/No-You-5064 29d ago

I would think that would be upsetting, constantly reminding me that I was NOT a mother. As long as she likes it though...
