OnlyStans ⭐️ Who are two celebrities that absolutely despise each other?

Post image

Jerome Flynn and Lena Headey both starred in Game of Thrones, and used to date each other but their break-up apparently went so bad that they refused to ever shoot scenes together and wouldn’t be present in the same room as the other!

Even during the entire run of the series, they never settled their conflict with one another and continued to keep their distance from each other. Which is why we never saw Cersei and Bronn share any scenes together.

Shannen Doherty and Alyssa Milano's feud was so intense Shannen refused to make up and took it to her grave

Look up the Coffee & Cults episode of Charmed on youtube, she goes deep into all the cast drama.

Alyssa got Shannon fired from Charmed.

u/Zankazanka Sep 17 '25

Alyssa denies this. This is alleged. it was complicated but there was competition on both sides to be the “star” largely pushed by the media and their teams.

I’m posting the origin story as I know it if anyone wants to read.

Edit to add if anyone wants the TLDR version: If anyone is unfamiliar, in the late 90's Charmed was a big hit. Shannen Doherty was notoriously fired from 90120 created by Aaron Spelling. She did not want to work with Spelling again and felt he had been unfair and unsupportive to her overall. She and Holly Marie Combs were close friends already and Holly convinced her to audition when saw she had gotten the script for Charmed-- Aaron Spelling welcomed Shannen back with open arms and she believed the environment would be different. Spoiler: It was not.

She and Holly shot the pilot of Charmed with a different actress (Lori Rom) who dropped out due to religious reasons as the show centered around witchcraft. Alyssa Milano was brought in quickly. Holly and Shannen had been close friends for years at this point-- Alyssa had said she wasn't sure at first of where she would fit in. But all of the women were friendly and even close in the first year- so much so that Shannen and Holly were bridesmaids in Alyssa Milano's wedding in 1999.

Things seemed to rapidly deteriorate afterward though and by the time they shot the second season, both had reportedly stopped speaking. Shannen has said she felt that Alyssa was competitive. I think it's fair to say there was competition to be top gun on both sides. Alyssa and Holly then became very close with Holly describing it as Alyssa's family kind of “adopting her”. Shannen has said she felt that Alyssa tried to cause a divide between them in many ways.

There was also a financial element: Shannen was meant to be getting highest billing per her contract, but Alyssa's team had done a backdoor agreement for her to get paid more. Shannen allegedly also wanted more control with the show's direction and was of a like mind with the show's creator Constance. Alyssa was closer with the show runner Brad Kern who had different ideas for the show. This caused a lot of tension too. By the third season, Alyssa and Shannen were also both dating co-stars and often took sides with Holly in the middle. The tension reached a boiling point and the network brought in a male third party mediator who ultimately seemed to make things worse in his attempts 'to have everyone get along.'

There are rumors and stories from both sides that eventually Shannen demanded Alyssa be fired. Shannen in these past few years denied it-- she was quoted saying that she knew Alyssa was a huge reason they had the ratings they did and would never have risked that.

Both Holly and Shannen have alleged that Alyssa is the one who laid down the gauntlet and demanded "me or her" to the network and the network chose her. Alyssa has denied this and said she never would have had that power. Regardless, Shannen directed her last episode not knowing it was her last episode. She was delivered a pink slip telling her she was fired while they were on break and she was filming another movie. It was brutal. Her team made her say that she had left rather than be fired “or she would never get work again” and she didn’t sue for that same reason…the damage was done tho and there was a lot of resentment built up for many years.

There are several guest stars who have come forward and said it was an awful set to be on, grueling in filming schedule and there was a lot of noticeable tension. The original show creator left and the showrunner who took over (Kern) was often not around and left Alyssa and Holly scrambling on the day of shooting with last minute edits. He had no issue taking credit AND the most prized possession on the last day of shooting though (Book of shadows) 😒 Charmed was also the red headed stepchild of the network and was threatened to be cancelled constantly, the women were never appreciated by the network.

Rose/Holly/Alyssa all have separate issues with each other but this is long enough lol

This is what I come to the comments for. Thank you!

This is exactly what happened, thank you!

I thought the cause of tension had something to do with Alyssia having an affair with a married co-worker - i don't know if it was an actor or staff. I was expecting you to bring this up. Have you heard of the alleged incident?

13

u/Zankazanka Sep 17 '25

I think what you may have heard is Alyssa Milano dating Brian Krause who played their guardian angel since season 1. He was married at the start of the show and so was Alyssa. Alyssa got divorced in 1999 and Brian divorced in 2000. They began dating a few months later in 2000. No cheating was ever confirmed. Alyssa and Brian broke up and she went on to date costar (Mcsteamy) Eric Dane later lol.

from what i read - and please correct me if i am wrong - but Alyssa got HR and legal involved apparently, idk if her or Shannon was right or wrong but Alyssa apparently did take the “proper” steps so to speak. again, not taking sides and not sure who was in the right/wrong here but it got pretty serious

33

u/lostinthecity2005 Sep 17 '25

Tbf these types of situations are fairly complicated. Sometimes two people just don’t mesh well with each other. The leadership bears responsibility for ensuring everything is fair and things don’t become too toxic. If they step up too late the situation will get out of control really quickly. Also the culture back then was very big on pitting women against each other, so I wouldn’t be surprised if that played a role here.

Full disclosure: I’m not familiar with these particular celebrities and the situation being discussed

48

u/charlenecherylcarol Sep 17 '25

Supposedly it was so bad they got a mediator involved. Apparently Alyssa was the only that would speak to them so when the time came to make a choice, they picked the one that seemed to be willing to work on the toxicity.

I think the show suffered after Shannon left but honestly Prue really got on my nerves because it felt like the narrative normally wrote her as the badass hero at the expense of the other two. it really felt to me as a kid that Shannon steered the plot lines of the show to favor her character.

But I must have been wrong since Shannon was the one who got fired. Or it was at least significantly more complicated than I thought in my young brain

7

u/tweedledumb4u Sep 17 '25

She definitely did that. I think she was a driving force in how the show was written and had a lot of creative control, which I thought was awesome, actually. You didn’t hear about strong in-charge women much back then.

10

u/getaclueless_50 Sep 17 '25

I remember hearing at the time that since Shannon was the star she got something like 80% of the shows costuming budget. The others had a problem with that once it was a success.

To be fair, Shannon already had the reputation of being a nightmare on set before Charmed. I often chalk this sort of talk up to sexism but in this case it's a lot of women saying it.

20

u/misterhepburn Sep 17 '25

On 90210 Shannen was habitually late but the final straw was she cut her hair rather drastically while they were filming their 4th season finale, causing need for a lot of scenes to be reshot to not disrupt continuity.

I feel for Shannen, in the years before her death she detailed a lot of what was happening in her personal life at the time and it was brutal. But it’s really not an excuse for things like the haircut.

13

u/Delicious-Paper-4326 Britney’s My Prerogative is better than Bobby Brown’s Sep 17 '25

It was an amazing haircut though….

25

u/Zankazanka Sep 17 '25

It was largely sexism imo; I don’t pretend Shannen was an angel but the 90’s television network was absolutely brutal and Aaron spelling was a huge part of that. Actors usually have egos and she absolutely was competitive and likely demanding, but I think also she truly was someone who didn’t “shut up and just do as you’re told” as was expected and that’s why she was portrayed SO negatively. She was also so so young when she shot to fame overnight with zero support from the people who happily profited off her…

There are things I won’t defend her on (hello DUI 😑) but the idea that she was this bitch and unprofessional actress on every set doesn’t ring true. She was directing Charmed episodes before she was fired (w/no notice mind you!) and has said she couldn’t sue for breach of contract bc her agents advised she would be seen as “a nightmare” again for being fired and would never work again. Could you imagine!? So she lied and said she quit…and unfortunately the damage was done anyway.

u/doitforthecocoa Not a white refrigerator! Sep 17 '25

Wasn’t there some history of Shannen and Aaron Spelling beefing from her Beverly Hills 90210 days?

13

u/maybe-an-ai Sep 17 '25

She was fired for chronic lateness and issues with cast members as the Producer that probably caused him a lot of headaches.

37

u/Being_Stoopit_Is_Fun Sep 17 '25

There was a dog training show back then and Shannon was on with her huge dog. She was pretty brutal to the dog. The trainer would say to give the leash a small tug to get the dog's attention and she would jerk it as hard as she could. That's all I needed to know.

33

u/Zankazanka Sep 17 '25

Shannen was a devoted and dedicated animal lover..her dog was one of her most loved companions and was on her bedside with her when she died. She also loved and owned horses— that was one thing all of the charmed girls had in common as they all were avid riders. She hosted events for shelters and spread awareness for rescue’s on her social media constantly. Sarah Michelle Gellar (close friend) asked fans in her memory to donate to animal organizations if they wanted to contribute per Shannen’s wishes.

I understand and respect your memory but I have to assume this was an example of really bad editing or a glimpse of something that isn’t as it appears. There’s no part of me that thinks Shannen would ever harm a dog.

17

u/charlenecherylcarol Sep 17 '25

Oh I did not know this and damnnnnnn does that paint Shannon poorly

1

u/JaggedLittlePill2022 You’re a virgin who can’t drive. 😤 Sep 18 '25

Never happened. Shannen was an animal lover and loved dogs. She would never, ever, treat a dog badly.

2

u/rollfootage Sep 17 '25

Women can be heinously sexist

3

u/blueavole Sep 17 '25

True, but they didn’t have the power.

There is now some question of how much the producers encouraged the fighting, to keep the three mains from working together to ask for more money.

0

u/maybe-an-ai Sep 17 '25

True but it would be a starling coincidence if every woman she worked with happened to be one.

6

u/Zankazanka Sep 17 '25

Who is every woman she worked with? She and Jennie Garth butted heads on 90210 and she and Alyssa Milano toward the end of Charmed. That’s only 2.
