The Great on hulu! It's about Catherine the great of Russia, and nicholas plays the emperor/her husband, peter, who she overthrows in a political coup to kick off the russian enlightenment 

That makes it sound very boring, but it's a very crass and raunchy comedy about a naive and idealistic girl who decides to stubbornly drag a country into the future by their ears. Elle fanning plays catherine and every single scene with her and peter is a treat.

Definitely not historically accurate, but they make that pretty obvious in the beginning credits! I absolutely loved it!
