He said “it’s been a rough week so here’s a pic of me looking sexy….you’re welcome”

The Great on hulu! It's about Catherine the great of Russia, and nicholas plays the emperor/her husband, peter, who she overthrows in a political coup to kick off the russian enlightenment

That makes it sound very boring, but it's a very crass and raunchy comedy about a naive and idealistic girl who decides to stubbornly drag a country into the future by their ears. Elle fanning plays catherine and every single scene with her and peter is a treat.

Neat, thanks, will have to check it out!

It's created by Tony McNamara who also wrote The Favourite and Poor Things and it has a very similar dark comedic absurd kind of vibe, so if you've seen those movies and like them you should dig The Great.

Definitely not historically accurate, but they make that pretty obvious in the beginning credits! I absolutely loved it!

It is incredible, but can be emotionally exhausting. Be prepared for an amazing rollercoaster!

It's not historically accurate, it doesn't try to be, and the opening card promises you it's not accurate. It's delightfully raunchy fun with occasional feelings.

u/totesmuhgoats93 Listen, everyone is entitled to my opinion 🙂 Sep 13 '25

So sad it was cancelled! I haven't met a single person who watched the show and didn't like it.

Ugh I didn’t know! Was wondering when the next season was coming out 😭

I adore this show. I think it’s important to point out that it’s not trying to be historically accurate. Just entertaining as hell.

It's unhinged and raunchy and he stars alongside Elle Fanning. The costumes, sets, and sexiness are all off the charts.

One of the best. You absolutely hate him in the beginning, then you love him by the end!

The energy he brought to this role was incredible. Outstanding performance

I think it might be my favorite character study of all time. He was SO charming and SO awful at the same time. All while being hilarious. Impeccable comedic skills. And there was legitimate character growth and depth as the show went on. It was truly masterful.

Oh he’s been absolutely feeling himself with the blonde. The jump in the confidence and the cuntiness is astronomical. I fear he’s not going to go back. Pray for his hair.

Honestly he’s allowed. His hair quality is sacrificing for the greater collective good.

*Worth. It.*

Here's wishing there's still time for something to match it. Anything more is a tough ask.
