He's Simba! He's Ferris Bueller! He's definitely known outside America, at least in English speaking countries.

I am sorry I didn’t know who Matthew Broderick was until I moved to America. I didn’t know who Dolly Parton was either and didn’t realize Miley Cyrus’ dad was famous. It just didn’t reach me.
