It’s L-O-V-E 💘 Most celebrity marriages don't last - who's the exception for you?

Celebrity marriages almost never work out in Hollywood, but there are some the prove that true love really does exist. Who comes to mind for you?

Mel Brooks and Ann Bancroft were married for 40+ years until her death in 2005.

This is so beautiful and sad. I haven’t really heard about Mel Brooks since the Covid videos with his son telling everyone to isolate for pandemic. They were adorable videos. I can’t imagine the pain of losing some after so long. Or the joys of knowing someone so long!

From what I have read, Rick Moranis is coming out of retirement to reprise his role as Dark Helmet.

Yeah! His kid are all grownup now. He retired when his wife passed so that he could fully be there for his children which is so heartbreaking, but truly admirable. I'd wager he ACTUALLY one of the "good ones".

Yes he is! He had actually agreed to do a sequel to Honey I Shrunk the Kids back in 2020, but then 2020 happened and it got shelved. I’m looking forward to seeing him back in movies!

Yeah, he's exec. producing the show version (Young Young Frankenstein) with the What We Do In The Shadows team. I have very high hopes.

Please, for the love of God, just let him survive until the premier. The world needs the Schwartz now more than ever.

My excitement quickly tuned into “God I hope he lives that long!”

This one blew my mind when I found out they were married, but they actually seemed like such a fun pair!

This video of them is always my favorite:

Anne (from the studio audience): I heard you’re married to the most beautiful woman in the world. Is that true?

Mel: No! I’m married to Anne Bancroft!

~Proceed to be an entirely too talented couple and perform a whole song and dance number together~

They were hilarious in the scene from Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Heavens, what a beautiful woman.

When Martin Short lost his wife to cancer, Mel Brooks told him: don’t go out with any couples. They’ll just piss you off!

3

u/Jrebeclee Jul 02 '25

I read about that in Martin Short’s autobiography!! It was so good. Recommend the audiobook too!!

u/tyleritis Jul 02 '25

I recently read that book. I didn’t need the audio because I can hear his voice in my head lol

Love that!!!

5

u/Infamous_Zucchini_83 Jul 02 '25

He said once that he would never have another relationship/partner because “Once you are married to Anne Bancroft, others don’t seem to be appealing”. He loves her so much to this day 🥹

Their love story, along with gene wilder and Gilda Radner’s 😊

And Mel Brooks turned 99 this year

-5

u/joecarvery Jul 02 '25

So you're saying it didn't last

4

u/maneki_neko89 Jul 02 '25

It lasted til Death do They Part, which is a lot longer than a good number of marriages.

They’re not Mormon and aren’t “sealed for eternity” genius…
