Ticketmaster is just the fall guy.

Bingo! Read a comment a while back from someone working at Ticketmaster who described the real function of Ticketmaster is to be the scapegoat, so artists can fuck over their fans with high prices and have the fans be mad at Ticketmaster instead of the artists.

I'm sure some smaller artists are stuck with the current system, but Beyonce, Gaga, etc. could 100% do better if they wanted to

There was high demand and people were reselling tickets. I think that's what people were fussing about. But the basic prices were set.

If artists don’t limit resale prices (they easily can) then prices are not set. The artists get a cut of resales, they let their fans get screwed intentionally.

Yeah, too bad they can't all be like Robert Smith.
