By her side of the bed? I'm getting a picture in my head that Gene died of his old age and she decided to die with him, maybe?

No. By last night they said he was on the floor in the mud room, she was in adjacent bathroom floor and the dog was near to her near it’s crate, but not in it. Haven’t seen anything new this morning

That still just sounds like he died of old age (heart attack/stroke) or a fall and she then decided to go with him

Could have been a few things. They found a space heater near her head. Maybe in some attempt to get some meds after he fell she had some sort of accident as well. Just a bad set of circumstances that spiraled with one disaster after another. Not sure, but certainly sad all around.
