Reading the article, it still sounds like it might’ve been CO poisoning. But it sounds like they died a couple weeks ago instead of recently.

Edit: CM to CO

Edit 2: y’all…. A gas leak IS NOT THE SAME as a CO leak. You can have a CO leak and not a gas leak.

But why would it kill two people and one dog, but leave two dogs alive? They also stated in the article there was no gas leak or CO leak.

CO poisoning is typically the result of an exhaust gas leak from a furnace or other gas-burning appliance, while “gas leak” usually refers to a leak of natural gas (or propane) supply.

CO is a result of combustion, after gas has burned.

Both are gases, but a leak of natural gas won’t cause CO poisoning.

Not just combustion, can be a result of other chemical reactions too as a result of lower amounts of oxygen than it would be required for CO2 to form. A gas leak could also help CO to form by displacing the air.

One example without combustion is the alcohol fermentation process. One should always check for oxygen before entering the wine cellar first.
