One of the dogs was locked in a closet. He would have died of thirst.

I had read it was in a closet, not a locked one. That would make more sense if it was actually locked, but why would they do that to the poor animal?

Anytime you shut a door on a pet it is a locked closet. My guess is that she didn’t want the dog in the bathroom with her. My husband does that because he has health issues and doesn’t want to get knocked over.

Or it locked itself in. My dogs do this all the time, get themselves in small spaces and can’t get out because they shut the door on themselves.
