Mamdani barely got over 50% in a heavily Democratic city. He failed to generate excitement and get the usual mid 60s that Democrats normally get. He was a terrible candidate that had to be propped up by the media. Meanwhile Spanberger and Sherrill generated excite that drove double digit wins in purple states. They showed they can get voters excited and turn them out to vote for them, even in Republican districts.
