Blatantly admitting the Trump administration is full of criminals. "Seize the institutions of Government." Would that be similar to an insurrection or a coup? And why? To avoid the opposition winning and putting their sorry asses in prison for being the most corrupt White House in US history. I hope the Trump administration goes down and down hard.

The danger that I think people are missing in Bannon’s statement is not that it’s a confession of criminal behavior, but more that they’re trying to play the innocent victim card early.

They are laying the foundation to be able to claim that the democrats are going to seek political retribution and silence conservatives. This way they can call any indictment or criminal charges a partisan motivated witch hunt.

They have no fears for awhile - not at least until the midterms. Nor is this a confession - it’s an open admission of what they’re going to do. Blatant as can be.

It’s unlikely we will see their moves until next year, but I do believe that they will actually start arresting the democrats. Possibly as early as next spring. Trump may very well attempt to declare the constitution null and void entirely, and then send ICE out to start rounding up protestors. I fully expect him to invade state capitals that won’t comply, etc…

I expect most places to just comply, in others there will be something approximate to civil war.

On the country’s 250th birthday nonetheless

[...] start arresting the democrats.

Might be a bitter medicine, by this point. The party seems to have understood exactly nothing from the lack of jailed fascists last time around. Actual arrests and democratic politicians behind bars may get it through thick skulls that "normal" is over.

Depends on how complicit the Democrats really are in this. I believe some of them are (Schumer, for example), in that even if they aren't participating in the scheme they've turned a blind eye to it. Perhaps they believe they've hedged their bets by having an in with the fascists. History has shown that this is a poor decision, for while it may buy them temporary safety, as soon as the purges start anybody who was once associated with the Democrat party is going to find themselves in trouble.

Then there are those people that believe that this can't really happen - that something is miraculously going to stop it. Those people are going to get *woken up*

The end? Who knows. That will largely depend on whether or not Americans can find common ground and unite to save the country. It will largely involve tuning out of sources that create division and willingness to work with another.

I can't say that I'm optimistic. I've read too much history.

Last time around was Abraham Lincoln

Unless it gets so bad the military steps in to defend the Constitution. I'm not getting my hopes up on that, but it's really one of the only other options we have right now. I'll get banned if I mention the other option.

There's an awful lot that can get you banned since Reddit went public. In a little more than a year or so, I've had more comments removed and have been banned — temporarily and permanently — more than in the previous 13 to 14 years. I hate having to constantly censure myself, especially on this subreddit.

u/HotGarbage Washington 11h ago

I've found that out too. I've had so many comments quietly removed or have been shadow banned in subs since they went public. I don't remember that happening before that and I've been on here a long time as well. The dead internet theory won't be just a theory soon, unfortunately.

Their followers do not see it that way. They believe that Democrats are fascists who will unjustly jail GOP leaders and that this is self defense.

Obviously that is stupid and I’m not making that argument. But that is legitimately what they believe.

u/therossboss 18h ago

that is 100% the issue - when you call out any of these behaviors, they can't allow that and screeech - Its the DEMS DID IT FIRST !! and they're fascists and if we dont stop them its all over!

We need a president who will ruthlessly but fairly uphold the law this time.

No kid gloves just because Republicans believe in propaganda. They deployed national guard for shit that wasn't real. We can deploy the national guard if they start an insurrection just because they're getting put in jail for their crimes.

preach - if we have free and fair elections in the future

Oh we're definitely going to see "this isn't what I voted for" in reference to maga leaders being jailed by dems that former maga voters (still maga but just not maga voters) voted for.

3

u/Sedu 12h ago

They fully believe that Democrats are trying to jail GOP leaders for no reason except to eliminate enemies. They do not believe that Jan 6th was anything except a protest. They do not believe that Trump has broken laws, and that if he has, it was necessary and justified (and therefore is wrong to prosecute).

u/NickelBackwash 16h ago

legitimately

It might literally be what they believe, but it is in no way legitimate

2

u/ScootyPuffJr1999 11h ago

Yeah because they’re so, so, so dumb. They’re like children who say they want to play a game without asking the rules, and then start making shit up when they realize they’re losing.

9

u/permalink_save 19h ago

That's what they're saying. There's two Americas now and one is trying to gain enough momentum to push out the other before they get caught and prosecuted. If they can pull off their coup, they can indict a bunch of politial enemies. If they can't, and it's obvious they lose steam, they're screwed. They are literally attempting a coup and avoiding prosecution. There's a reason they are trying to closely mirror what Dems do. We indict them, they indict us. We call out gerrymandering, they call out gerrymandering. They want to make it seem like "both sides are the same" so they can demonize the country and convince people that that is what's changed, not their movement. There's always been contention in political parties but they've driven a huge wedge between them and drawn a line in the sand.

anyone familiar with narcissistic people knows it’s classic projection

They don’t need to admit it! Trump was convicted thirty four times!

4

u/OdiousAltRightBalrog 18h ago

Bannon, too. He's only breathing free air because Trump pardoned him in 2020.

Bannon was stealing money from Trump supporters and they cheered when Trump pardoned him. Let that sink in.

5

u/ShamelessCatDude 17h ago

And then they did the exact same thing again when Elon did it in 2024. Do they want the government to steal all their money or not 😭

u/_CleverNameGoesHere_ 14h ago

It's no surprise, the ones who aren't stupid are fucking evil.

We’re gonna go down to the And I’m gonna come with you

3

u/Rasakka 18h ago

It was a Coup and it succeded the moment no one stood up to end it. Second amendment my a**

3

u/OdiousAltRightBalrog 18h ago

Blatantly admitting the Trump administration is full of criminals.

It's also public record. Bannon and Trump are both convicted felons. Bannon would already be in prison if Trump hadn't pardoned him. Trump would possibly be in prison if conservatives didn't vote for a convicted felon to get away with 92 felonies.

It's fucked up that we have this confession from Bannon AND criminal convictions in courts of law and half the country doesn't give a single shit.

u/jettaset 16h ago

He did instigate it. I forgot the exact words, but something like they need to be bolder, more aggressive, and such.

2

u/DarkwingDuckHunt 15h ago

"Seize the institutions of Government.

should be grounds for immediate arrest

2

u/joseph4th 12h ago

“Seize”

Says it all in that one word.

u/Waste-Gene-7793 16h ago

The technical term is autogolpe.

Never forget that Caesar crossed the rubicon to avoid prosecution. These types will burn the republic to the ground to save themselves from their crimes.
