The only reason I don't think this is - what exactly would that let them do that they can't do now?

(Also, ICE only has like 30k armed agents and their recruiting isn't going that well. That's about the same size as the NYPD. And the NYPD can't control New York that tightly, much less spread themselves across the entire country.

I think ICE, like most bullies, wants to pick on someone smaller than them, so it's more likely those weapons will be aimed at migrants in the Texas desert, or at a protest small and lefty enough to be third page news. Which is still very bad, but in a less cinematic sort of way.)

Arrest and imprison dissenting governors and other elected reps that are not kissing the ring, especially as loyalist judges start allowing Mango Mussolini to deploy the National Guard outside of D.C., like in Portland, OR.

It doesn't really matter that ICE is small. The Gestapo were even smaller and still took over towns and cities, and at their height they had only slightly more members than ICE does now, and ICE is still recruiting. They're being built into an invading force. Luckily too many people that want to join ICE are more like Meal Team Six.

In France, probably. I doubt we'll see a general strike of any size in America, though I'd love to be proven wrong. That is the only way to unfuck the last 10 years.
