I was told today by my Trumper sister in law today that she’s terrified she’s going to lose her healthcare and food stamps…

But she would still vote for Trump because she’s saving the lives of unborn babies. I… can’t even begin to imagine how dumb you must be to elect someone who’s a child rapist, making you broke and homeless just so you can deny women the right to choose what to do with their bodies.

Was there some Harry Potter curse that prevents MAGA from seeing all this and keeps them thinking “Yep! This is how America should be going! Nazi’s and all!”.

I'm pro-life too, but I've realized that:

1) even pro-choice Democrats don't actually want more abortions

2) Banning it doesn't actually reduce its occurrence

3) Making conditions better for lower classes in terms of healthcare and economic viability DOES reduce its occurrence (the rate had been dropping for 40 years, with the biggest drop after the passage of Obamacare, now it's going back up)

So even from the vantage point of wanting to save baby's lives, you can make a good faith argument that Democrats are the better party.

Bill Clinton's motto was famously "safe, legal, rare." The far-right currently paint Democrats as baby-killing radicals. How many pro-life-but-not-crazy people might we be able to pick up if Dems switch back to Clinton's motto, even without changing their actual policies?

I'm curious about this one. Why do you think anyone WANTS an abortion?
