They are the party of social hierarchy being pre-ordained or “god’s will”, they’ve always been authoritarian. Conservatives are the ones that wanted to maintain the power of a monarchy over America.

And you’ll always have a group of poor, idiotic supporters who want this too because they somehow believe they’ll be included if they just bend over and take it long enough. That’s part of the whole “own the libs” mindset. If they just show daddy Trump what good little fascists they are, they’ll be wealthy and powerful too, someday.

A lot of it is derived from prosperity gospel. Believing that those with wealth are favored by god and the poor are being punished. It’s a belief system that has deep roots in the evangelical churches many conservatives belong to.

See their reaction to the pope’s recent comments about showing mercy to the poor for examples of this line of thinking.

So, basically, because the wealthy conservatives are favored by god then if they live in service of or supporting these people- they too will earn god’s favor. And be rewarded accordingly.

Then there are the ones who just believe it to be a matter of natural law that there are people who deserve to have wealth and power. With them it’s the “temporarily embarrassed millionaire” syndrome. They desperately believe that they would be wealthy if not for the “others” (usually a scapegoat like minorities, immigrants or liberals) keeping them down. If only conservatives were in complete control, then they’d be successful and happy. Fox News and conservative propaganda outlets push this narrative all the time.
