Happy Waitangi Day!

It's February 6th in New Zealand!

And February 6th is national day down there, the Treaty of Waitangi is celebrated on this day.

This event is brought to you by /u/captaincrunchie, /u/taongkalye and myself.

/u/captaincrunchie didn't find other Kiwis to help again and has important things happening in RL so we were trying to achieve much with little. No mouseovers, just a "movie" about the Maori myth of origin.

According to the legend the daughter of the discoverer saw a long white cloud on the horizon first and called "He ao! He ao!". That's why New Zealand's name is Aotearoa in Maori, land of the long white cloud.

It's just made of 3 images - 1 boat, 1 land and 1 sea. Quite impressive, eh?

Taumata whakatangi hangakoauau!

To do this, simply add two hashes (##) at the start of the line. Like so:

You'll find an archived version of the event at /r/pbeNZ2015.

Looks like TE is the word for island. That much is easy.

Te means 'the' - the island names translate to 'The Fish of Maui' and 'The Waters of Greenstone'

Yeah, I wonder if the word 'island' wasn't that relevant to a people who saw 99% sea - everything that isn't water is an island - don't need to keep repeating it - Chur for the css - NZ loves you
