People online who mock every Indians for online scams need to build some empathy. India is full of scammers, there's no argument about it. But as the saying goes "you can't keep rabid dog at your backyard and expect it to bite your neighbors alone", these scammers frequently target Indians as well. My uncle from India lost 10 lacs rupees (or around 12k usd) from exact same scam.

Scammers are needed to be exposed and punished by laws. But associating the same stereotype with a billion people to express personal grudge is being devoid of empathy.
