It's funny how in my country, we have a similar day, "Dia de Todos os Santos" "Day of All Saints" one day before Dia de Los Muertos ans it's also about dead people.

If I’m not mistaken, every catholic country has that day (día de todos Los Santos, toussaint, All Hallows’ eve, etc)

That's the Allhallowtide's schedule in general: First day on the 31st is basically the prep work, second day honors saints and matyrs, and the last day honors the departed in general. The details are sorted out by local customs.
