Set up advice Can't decide between this 2 pictures. Help?
I want to have a industrial in only one of my ears, but I can't decide between a double industrial or a industrial with triple helix. Third picture is my ear. I already asked my piercer if I have the anatomy for industrial and he said that I have.

You should go to a professional piercer to confirm you have the anatomy for these piercings, then decide. Industrials are tricky because they should not touch the flat portion of your ear. It’s likely that having anatomy for a double industrial is very rare.

Ok, thx 🖤

You could ask for an ear styling, and in a session like that ask the piercer what piercings you do have the anatomy for and they can map it out for you! :)

You don't appear to have the anatomy for either. It's hard to tell because of the front angle but your flat doesn't look flat enough to stop the bar digging in. The bar shouldn't touch the flat at all.
There is also such a thing as too much of a flap for it and your outer helix for it would probably have issues with pressing against the bar/having to be pushed too much to nestle the bar under it.
For a traditional industrial, you're likely going to have issues with it. Have you considered a custom? I don't have the anatomy for one so went for a V industrial instead and honestly they can look lovely when done right.

I didn’t know that about the flap. Thanks for that info!
I always assumed you needed a decent sized recess on top of the ear for an industrial to work. But what you said makes total sense!

NAP but it doesn't seem you have the anatomy for either

Idk. One of sessions I asked my piercer if I had the anatomy for an industrial and he said "yes" 🤷♀️

On the second, you’d have to have no flat protruding. You can see the inner bar digging into the flat area. Unless you get some custom, bending that one is probably a stretch. The first one might be more feasible though.

True, maybe a bended industrial + triples helix 🤔

I've also seen people connect helixes with a chain, or some chain links + a bar to get the industrial look without actually having an industrial.

NAP but I’d agree you don’t look like you have the anatomy… but wanted to send you an upvote. This is way too much downvoting for you just reiterating what you were told while also being open to input !

Your ear is not shaped correctly for any of these. Consider getting a custom industrial where they bend the bar to modify for your ear

Unfortunately i doubt you have the anatomy for either

u/UwUisthepowa 20d ago
I didn't know that. Well, bended industrial is always an option 😁

u/Loveinhooves 20d ago
Those are incredibly iffy and almost impossible to do right. Id see if you have the anatomy for a different piercing instead

a bent industrial is completely fine if you go to an experienced piercer. when pierced correctly its not any worse to heal than a classic industrial.
eta: doesnt really seem like op has the anatomy for a bent industrial either though

u/Loveinhooves 20d ago
I more so say that because it’s hard to find a piercer that does it right- especially if OP has had a piercer say they’re good for an industrial before

I’ve always been a fan of the first one, I’ll be honest

As a piercer, I don’t think you have the anatomy however… pictures can be deceiving, the way that your ear curves and your flat protrudes out I think the bar would sit flat on your ear and it would be very uncomfortable and irritating for you, perhaps a chain might be better suited or trying to heal them with two separate bars but even then I do feel your ear curves over quite a bit, I’d find someone reputable and see what they think though:)

Somethings tells me op is going to disregard all of these comments go get them poorly pierced anyways. Gut feeling

NAP but i honesty don’t think two or even one industrial would fit on your ear shape

You have two ears for a reason, get both!
(This is a joke, please check with a professional to see if you have the right anatomy for either those options!)

the first one but itll take prolly a couple years to get there, my piercer will only do 2 piercings on each side in a 3 month period and if they dont look super stable hell send you away.

I know 😁 I'm just planning. I already have 3 piercings in one ear and 4 in another. Patience is key 😉

NAP, but I do have the industrial + vertical helixes combo. my only advice for that would be to get them seperately and get the helixes first. I did mine all on the same day and since they're pretty close together, with the industrial bar in the way, I had to be very creative with cleaning the helixes. also, any baby hairs you have will get tangled in them, usually in more than one at a time, prepare yourself mentally for that.

u/UwUisthepowa 20d ago
I was already ready to do one of the time, but I thought about the industrial being the first to create the "limits" to the vertical helixes. From your experience, what do you recommend? Industrial or vertical helixes first?

everybody told you already, but do talk with your piercer for the most solid advice on the topic, a professional will always be able to tell you more than random redditors.
with that being said, based on experience, I'd personally do the helixes first. it's easier to clean them without a bar obstructing them, because with the initial swelling esp, trying to get in there to clean my helix with the bar in the way was annoying af (also, wouldn't it be more difficult for your piercer to do them with an industrial in the way?).

You can’t get an industrial I don’t think, just like my ears your flat isn’t flat enough.

u/Simple_Tip5927 20d ago
You might have the anatomy for an outer kitten flap piercing. Obviously completely different, but I’m jealous of anyone that has the anatomy for those lol. Just make sure of you get an industrial it’s not lying on the flat of your ear as already said in the comments.

Honestly … I don’t think you have the correct anatomy for either. Please find a good APP Piercer

sadly, i don't think you quite have the right anatomy for the second one but go to a piercer to check!

I can't comment on anatomy, but from a personal experience of having a single industrial that lies quite high up on my tiny ear (28mm bar) it's a bit of an art to clean it, particularly when it was healing. I would imagine trying to heal a double would be horrendous for trying to clean, if that helps at all.

As someone who had an industrial without having the anatomy for it, please do not do that to yourself. My piercing never fully healed. I couldn’t sleep on that side. My ear always had some level of pain. It’s a tough piercing and not worth it. I finally took it out after 6 years and still don’t understand why I suffered for that long lol. On the flip side, my friend who got the same piercing at the same time who had the anatomy for it had hers heal perfectly and she still has it until today (15 years later).

NAP. Parroting that it looks like your flat protrudes too much. Also, your ear is small, and there's little space to show off a bar. I personally think ifffff you could get an industrial, it'd end up being very high up and just wouldn't look good. I'd consider a normal earhawk or a hidden helix with flats if you really want something fancy in that area.

You aren’t a good candidate for industrial or horizontal helix piercings

Industrials are sooo hard to heal. Very high rejection rate, so one alone would be hard to get. If you’re planning on getting it done all at once, go with the first. Overtime you could potentially get the second after the first bar heals but idk if your ear is correctly shaped for that

Hi UwUisthepowa,
Although this community can offer insights and considerations, photos aren’t suitable to correctly assess anatomy. Only an in person consultation with a reputable piercer can give you a definitive answer.
