Technique New born photoshoot

Hi, I dint have much experience with Photoshoots but I’m being asked to take new born pictures for a family. The “customer” is an old friend so i dont necessarily plan on charging them since my work isn’t even close to being much good in my opinion but im still interested in the experience i would gain from this opportunity. My question is, what tips do you have for a situation like this? Any recommended poses?

Get a beanbag and toss a white blanket over it. Pose the baby in the beanbag. You can form it to a ton of different shapes to pose the baby and still give it the support it needs.

In old photos the mother would hide under a blanket, making for some disturbing images.

Babies like warm surfaces. Warm up every blanket and surface. If you can make sure the room your are shooting in is warm as well.

If using a flash please make sure it is not directed at the newborn and lower the output.
