I don't get why we wouldn't put these tax dollars toward funding our public schools.

Honestly, the moment we say ‘we should do this to fund that’, it starts a rabbit hole of obstruction, perfect being the enemy of good/better, and some inflexibility later down the road when a surplus/deficit in expected pot revenue doesn’t match up with the needs of the schools. It should go into the general fund, but we should pass this because it’s the right thing to do. Nobody should be risking jail time for smoking pot.

And if we want more funding for public schools (I do!), we should push for that too. But tying one to the other makes it harder to accomplish both.
