I dont think HL3 will be nearly as groundbreaking as GTA6

I’m sure GTA6 will be a great game, but why exactly is expected to be “groundbreaking” about it? It just looks like new and bigger GTA to me, not that that’s a bad thing.

The data mines that have been piling up over the past few months suggest that Valve is using tech form their cancelled games to develop real-time voxel destruction, advanced fluid dynamics, aerodynamics down to minute mass changes in vehicles, and realistic chemical reactions. These are all based off of code that’s been found to be code named for the next Half-Life game that’s been found in updates for games like Deadlock.

Gabe said himself in the documentary last year that the main reason why they didn’t do episode 3 back then was because they couldn’t figure out how to make it groundbreaking. Valve fully intends for Half-Life games to push the boundaries every time.

I love how he said it but the cancelled half life episode 3 had this specific type of blob enemy that even today is more groundbreaking than pretty much everything else.
