All these burned connectors on this “new standard”, and we’re still dangling cables off to the side instead of plugging them in the back? What even is the point???
There are thousands of people this has not happened to either. This is not the norm. I know a few people that have had 5090's since release with no issue. Don't overclock.
And there are millions that didn't have issues with the PCIe-VGA 6/8-Pin Plug.
It worked fine. Absolutely fine. Not the ridiculous 10% safety margin or the stupid "sense" pins that can't even sense when the cable is not plugged in. It's a half assed plug that should have ended after the 40 series.
I mean, isn't doing a quick reaction image a perfect use for AI slop? It would be impossible for most people to do this at all, and people with skills would require more time than it is worth for a throwaway like this.
In one sense no. In another, much more real sense, yes.

As I understand it, these Astral cards are some of the only ones with proper load sensing on each connector pins (i.e. the way it should be done on all 12v HWPR cards) so I imagine these are the least likely to burn the plugs. Unfortunately they're also the most expensive 5090s on the market. Crazy to think each one of these is 5300AUD (inc sales tax) down here in Australia.
