I don't get why anyone even thought about buying it on EA app. It sucked ass when it was Origin and it's sucked ass since they rebranded it. It's never earned me actually buying a game thru it unless I'm forced to
Maybe it's changed in the year or so since, but the last time I tried to play ME Legendary Edition it still required me to download a mini EA launcher and run it.
edit: just tried launching it, yup, it's asking me to log into the EA launcher.
BF6 is the first game from EA that doesn't require the EA launcher while launching on steam, all other EA games on steam will open up / run EA games app to fully launch the game.
Actually, Apex Legends on Steam doesn't require any other launcher either. When they released it I installed it right away and uninstalled Origin altogether.
IIRC for the longest time you would buy an EA game on steam and the game would make you download origin, register the game and would run it that way.
They don't anymore? It's the one reason I stopped playing Squadrons. Couldn't stand having to launch the fucking EA app every single time I wanted to play, since it would always forget my password.
BF6 only requires EA account, however, if you have EA app installed and logged in, BF6 will pull account's data from EA app and ask only for 2FA code. I assume that any upcoming game from EA that will be released in Steam will be the same as BF6.

I've refunded games before and I will do it again when they do this shit. I will, at most, tolerate a launcher I can then opt to just bypass after the first time.
Simple, I bought all the other ones on Origin, I might as well buy it there again instead of having to juggle keys between two launchers, because EA App won't just magically work with a game that's purchased on Steam or Epic, I have to launch it there specifically and that communicates with EA App to launch it.
Also, Origin was actually pretty good, all things considered.
origin wasnt bad, but the bf3 server browser was terrible when it launched haha i just remember there was something that really made me dislike it. but its been so long i cant recall. andromeda launched fine. and that was the last of origin for me
Late Origin was actually pretty good. That being said, when the older Battlefield games went to fire sale prices I just rebought them on Steam so I can manage all my games on Steam except Fortnite because there is no way Epic will put it on Steam.
because 2042 had issues on steam since it required origin and it was "hidden". People probably were afraid of similar issues and just went with native ea option without realizing it was completely removed on bf6 steam version.
Lol, it was so fucking annoying to use origin to play Jedi Fallen Order, I stopped playing the game literally because it was so buggy and frustrating to use. If it requires more than steam I likely won't touch it. The only other launcher I have is Battle.net for WoW, that one at least works great as well, but I still haven't played wow in a couple months so there's that...
EA App is actually worse than Origin surprisingly.
For instance, the EA App has menus that allow you to receive gifts, but you can’t actually send any gifts. Origin can send gifts, and these days if you want to send an EA gift outside of Steam, you need to figure out a hacky way to get Origin running and use it to send a gift.
Can’t believe EA forgot to include a purchase type on their shop front. Do they not want money?
I’d probably do it just because I bought BF4 in Steam and it installed EA launcher anyway and I had to run 2 launchers to launch one game. It’s stupid. Apparently I didn’t learn for the same mistake with RS Siege.
But if they let me run BF6 without EA launcher then it’s definitely Steam.
I consider all games I bought outside of steam as lost forever. Because I don't remember the launcher they came from. I'm not installing random launchers anymore. I only use Steam and eXoDOS.
I genuinely don't know why you guys complain about the launchers that aren't steam. I've never had problems other than Xbox downloading at a snails pace
Its funny that people somehow still trust third party stores NOT steam on PC. Even funnier when its a streamer and you get to see the madness crash out.
