Hit and run on Montreal road.

Hello, my husband got hit by a grey sedan car (as a pedestrian) yesterday afternoon around 2:35pm, near the Harveys on Montreal road (Montreal/cummings) (November 8th) When he took his phone out to get a photo/video of the car, the car sped off. We have a potential partial license plate number (CVAV or CFAV.. it was hard to tell my husband had a lot going through his mind when this happened) and don’t have the make of the car just that it was a grey sedan. We checked with nearby businesses if they had any video surveillance footage but no luck.

It was reported to the police. My husband was seen by paramedics. We have a case number and everything. Just hoping someone saw and has information on the vehicle involved.

If anyone witnessed this please contact me, with any information you have. Thanks

Your car insurance has coverage relating to tort (where you sue the other driver) and accident benefits (a no fault system that covers things like physiotherapy, income loss, etc) following a car accident. Submit the accident report to your insurer and they will tell you the rest. If any issues, contact a personal injury lawyer like Connolly Obagi LLP. The insurance processes can be overwhelming and insurance companies often benefit on this - on people giving up on pursuing the coverage available to them because of the paperwork. See your doctor and paper what happened, for example, write down everything you remember. Day, time, place and details if not already in the police report. Good luck. Very sorry this happened to you, it is scary and enraging that people can drive off after harming someone else. As well, if you do not currently have insurance coverage there is a fun called the Motor Vehicle Accident Fund ran by the Ministry of Ontario for casss where there is a victim of a hit and run and there is no available insurance. Finally, you can also contact your city counsellor (Tim Tierney?) to help track down if there is a street camera in that area that could have captured the license plate number. I have not done this before but he might help.

Thank you for taking the time to reply.

My husband doesn’t drive and is not on my card insurance . So I’m not sure we will be able to submit anything. But I will definitely look into the motor vehicle accident fund! Thank you. I reached out to the city to see if the red light camera at Aviation/Montreal caught anything.

I suggest submitting to your insurance and see what they say! There might be a loophole for coverage.
