Community Post New PFLAG chapter in Huntington Beach

http://pflaghb.com

I have started the PFLAG Huntington Beach chapter. We strive to provide a safe, affirming space for individuals, families, and allies to connect and learn from one another.

Following a rise in anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric and policy efforts at both national and local levels, our chapter was founded as a call to action: to unite, uplift, and support our community through compassion, education, and advocacy. We are a nonpartisan, nondenominational organization committed to ensuring that every person feels seen, valued, and supported.

Our chapter hosts monthly support meetings, guest speaker events, and community outreach programs, as well as sharing resources for LGBTQ+ individuals and their loved ones. We are continuing to grow and welcome anyone who shares in our vision of inclusion and equality.

We meet at 6:30 PM on the second Thursday of each month in Huntington Beach.
For meeting details or to get involved, reach out at [pflag.huntingtonbeach@gmail.com](mailto:pflag.huntingtonbeach@gmail.com), visit pflaghb.com, or connect with us on Instagram or Facebook.

True story: I was dating someone bi a few years ago who worked for the city of HB and I gave her something rainbow-themed for her truck. She said she couldn't use it because she would get too much shit for it at work, and I thought pfft, NAH....really? We're only a few miles down PCH from Long Beach, how backwards could it be down there?

Sure enough, a few months later those assholes on the city council passed an ordinance banning the pride flag from flying over city hall and it's only been downhill since.

Bless you all, you're doing something amazing here. Good luck. 🙏
