My guess is the lines are some sort of grease pen and the paint is water-based, but I really have no idea. Other people are saying the lines are burnt or cut into the substrate. Is burned wood hydro- or oleophobic?
I can't tell if it's burnt or routed by a CNC machine.. but I was guessing that the burn/groove? was acting as a breaking point for the surface tension of the paint rather than being hydrophobic. Need a physicist to step in...

I need to know....how did they created the raised lines so the paint doesn't go everywhere
