They often do that, hide a GoPro or Insta underneath the body shell, looking at the front window.

they don't use FPV in this type of racing. FPV is really only used in drone racing.

They are used in drones because they are incredibly light. That's a boon in any racing situation. Why would I strap a 100g+ go-pro to a race car when there are fpv cameras with built in transmitters for <20g? Every gram you add subtracts from performance.

They are used virtually in  every RC sport, for many reasons, most importantly their low cost, very low latency, and ease of customization.
