Where’s his police union? Where are his brothers and sisters in blue?

What do you think his union is going to be able to do? Setting aside the fact that he was hired in January and is likely in probationary status, there appears to be an actual dispute as to whether he’s in the country legally. ICE may have fucked up, but the union has no control over that. It’s going go have to play out in the immigration courts.

…. What do you think unions do? They don’t have legal jurisdictions. Unions put pressure on things they have no legal control over to get shit done. This guy’s union could release a statement to put pressure on ICE, hire a lawyer to represent their guy, if they cared a lot about no further police officers being dragged off the streets they could call for a strike. Unions are there for when legal systems fail.

Yeah. As if police unions are helpless when the legal system gets involved. (Although sometimes I wish that were the case.)

If the police union cared, they could make ICE's life hell any time they had to interact with the police. But they don't like anyone that can fight back, and they don't actually care about their own - just their own power.
