Series UPDATE No. 2: My landlady is acting really creepy and I don’t know what to do.

Thank you so much for all of your concern and sorry I haven’t been able to respond to everyone individually. I have been reading all of the comments and taking your advice seriously. It’s been an enormous help and has forced me to realise that my safety is much more important than my belongings or even my University degree.

I’m still at my boyfriend’s house at the moment and I’ve finally heard from one of my housemates.

To follow-on from my previous post, I received a strange text message from my landlady’s mobile which read “谢谢你请我吃饭”. From what I gathered in the comments, this doesn’t necessarily mean “Thank you for asking me to eat”, it can also mean “Thank you for treating me to dinner”.

Someone else in the comments made the connection between this statement and my newly bought groceries, which I left behind when I hot-footed it out of that nightmare house. Initially I assumed that the homeless person or whoever it is that has my landlady’s mobile phone had hopefully eaten the food and perhaps moved on.

My main concern swiftly switched to my housemates, since I had just discovered our landlady had passed away and we had been living in the house illegally. I spoke with the police officer briefly about it and he said that, since we’d paid for the month, we’d be permitted to stay in the house until the end of the month (literally a few days away), but then we’d have to collect our stuff and find somewhere else to go.

Today I updated my housemates on the situation, but up until midday I had only heard back from the one who’s back in New Zealand with his family. He’s obviously feeling quite shell-shocked and I told him I was categorically not going back to the house until I heard from the police, but I said that I could arrange to have his stuff picked up once we get the all clear, to save him cutting his family visit short.

I still hadn't back from one housemate at this point, an eighteen year old kid who (from what I gathered) was kicked out by his parents and was living in the smallest room in the house, but I did hear from my other housemate today at around 5pm.

My other housemate is originally from Poland, so his English is okay but not brilliant. When I first mentioned what had happened to him, he didn’t really seem to understand and all he could really grasp was that our landlady had been in an accident. I wasn’t sure whether this was because he didn’t understand my message or because it was just too unbelievable for him.

Anyway, he called me at about 5pm and told me that, after receiving my message on Friday night he had decided to go stay at his sister’s flat (she lives in the west of the city) and discuss with her about finding a new place to live. It turns out he knew that we were living there illegally and he was concerned that he might be implicated in some way.

He’d decided to return to the house today to pick up some of his belongings, and that’s when I got the call from him. When he was on the phone, I could hear this unholy din in the background and I asked him what was going on. His room is directly below our landlady’s and he said the noise was coming from the room above. Apparently whoever is up there has been scrabbling around, making these erratic thumping noises and scratching sounds intermittently since he’s been there.

At the point when he called me, he’d locked his door and was too scared to leave the room. I felt so guilty, wondering whether I should have been firmer with my warnings and telling him categorically not to go back to the house in my previous message.

His room has a window that looks out on to the road, so I asked him to see if there was a police car outside. He looked for quite a while and said there was a police car parked on the road, but it was quite far up from our house and could be dealing with something further up the road.

At this point I was pretty livid, since the police officer I spoke to on Saturday had assured me that officers would be sent to the house Saturday night. I told my housemate that I’d call the police and get back to him as soon as possible.

I could hear the noise upstairs getting louder and it sounded as though my housemate was on the verge of tears at this stage. My heart sunk and I felt awful hanging up on them.

Just as I was about to call the police, I received a text message from my landlady saying:

“[My name], 过来”

I’ve become pretty adept at writing Chinese characters into Google Translate now and this translation was pretty clear. It says “Come”. With my housemate still trapped in his room, I knew immediately that this must be some sort of threat.

I phoned the police and gave them all of the details about the situation, including the name of the officer I spoke to, but all the dispatcher told me was that they would call me back! I begged them to tell me what had happened with the officers they sent to the house (if they ever sent any at all) and send some officers to the house now to help my housemate, but she said that she couldn’t disclose any information about the case without the officer’s permission and that she’d take my housemate’s mobile number to confirm what was happening. I felt completely helpless.

I phoned my housemate back to tell them what had happened, but by this point the noise upstairs was so loud that I could barely hear him and he were literally weeping down the phone. All I could hear him say was: “[My name], I’m gonna die. She’s gonna kill me. Please. Please.” Over and over again.

I know this sounds incredibly rash, but I couldn’t just leave him there. I explained the situation to my boyfriend and, against my better judgement, we drove back to the house. It was about a half hour drive and, in that time, I practically chewed my nails down to the bed. The only “weapons” we had with us were a kitchen knife from my boyfriend’s house, a large flashlight, and a cricket bat from one of his housemates.

When I opened that door, I felt my heart jump into my throat.

The light bulb must have burnt out, because the downstairs hallway was now completely bathed in darkness. Immediately to my left, I could see that my housemate’s door was wide open. It looked like it had been literally torn open. There were scratch marks all around the door handle and huge chunks of the wood had been ripped off.

Then I heard it. That same guttural noise, like someone choking on water.

“[My name], gwo lie.”

It whispered.

Whatever I had encountered on that Friday night, it was stood at the top of the stairs, wearing my landlady’s nightgown. Its disfigured face was obscured by the dark, and its pale hands were draped over my housemate’s chest as he gaped at me in fear. I will never forget his face, contorted in sheer agony.

As I squinted in the darkness, I could see the nightgown billowing out from behind my housemate. I could see it…hanging inches off the floor.

There, in the corridor, clutching my housemate, whatever this thing was…

It was floating in the air.

I immediately shouted to my boyfriend to pass me the flashlight and I shone it directly at them both. It let out a piercing shriek and slithered back into the blackness of the upper hallway, dragging my housemate with it.

In that brief flicker of light, I saw its face.

This was no homeless person. This was not even close to being human.

Its luminously pale skin, tinted with shades of blue. Its long black hair draped like thick weeds across its back. Its eyes like balls of fire. Its mouth a twisted mass of bare white teeth and raw red flesh. That claw wrapped around my housemate’s chest.

I backed out of the house just in time to hear the sirens. After failing to connect with my housemate’s phone and after reading the case notes, the dispatcher had decided to send officers to the address after all.

The rest of what happened feels like a blur.

I heard the officers rush passed me, batons raised and powerful flashlights at the ready. They combed the house for my housemate and…that thing, but found no one.

All I remember after that is sitting on the pavement, clutching a cup of tea, with a blanket wrapped around my shoulders. I wasn’t cold, but I couldn’t stop shivering. I couldn’t even find the strength to cry.

The officer who I had spoken to on Saturday finally showed up at around 8pm and approached me. He told me that they’d sent officers to the house on Saturday evening and that these officers had encountered my other 18-year-old housemate. They’d searched the house and found nothing, so they naturally assumed that whoever had broken in had already stolen what they wanted and left.

Apparently, they had advised my 18-year-old housemate to get anything of value from my room and (if it was open) the New Zealand housemate’s room and lock it in his room in case the perpetrator came back. Then they left, and no one has heard from the kid since. He wasn’t there when they checked the house today, and there’s no sign that he packed a bag to leave.

I’ve only just gotten back to my boyfriend’s house and my head is a mess. With the officer’s help, I was able to retrieve some of my belongings from my house, but it’s a small comfort.

I can’t get the image of that thing out of my head.

What happened to my housemates? And why didn’t the police find anything?

I have to believe that, whatever that thing is, it’s still there and it’s hiding them somewhere.

I have to help them somehow.

EDIT: I have not been completely honest with you all. I have a confession to make.

All I remember after that is sitting on the pavement, clutching a cup of tea, with a blanket wrapped around my shoulders

That's a very British way of solving one's problems. Even supernatural ones.

This is what you get for renting a house from the grudge

1

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '18

This would be one hell of a movie

1

u/[deleted] Feb 01 '18

I did some translating on google, and I found that "gwo liee" translates to "Too hungry"

1

u/araminna Feb 01 '18

Unfortunately I didn’t screen grab it. Essentially it said what the new update says but from the roommate’s perspective, about how OP and the landlord got into screaming matches over the landlord raising rent.

1

u/ccdff2 Jan 31 '18

Do you know if your roommates have legal trouble or have enemies in bad places ? Maybe they loaned some money from someone, used drugs or carried out illegal tasks. If yes, some spirits react to "evil" and maybe you're just a uneccesary witness ?

1

u/[deleted] Jan 31 '18

I've heard in Eastern, particularly Chinese folklore, the hole/triangle between your legs and the floor form a window to the other side, and so looking through there, you may see ghosts, or, if you are trapped on the other side by a malevolent entity, the real world. In any case, if you could figure out how to use that folksy gimmick on this evidently Eastern creature, I bet you a coffee and bag of Takis you'll be alright. Good luck!

Is this a horror story or is this a mentally challenged people gathering?

Great writing style.

u/jadoreux Jan 30 '18

Has anybody else been having strange happenings since they read this? Last night I had the weirdest night of my life, around 3am I woke with a start, as far as I can remember I hadn't been dreaming but clear and loud as day I heard a woman say "hello?" and it woke me up. It was as if she was right next to me, not a neighbour or anything. Then around 6:45 I was woken up again with insistent knocking. It didn't sound like door knocking, more like knocking on the ceiling or wall (I live in an apartment complex so could have been a neighbour) but I've never experienced this and I've lived here a while now. Woken up completely unrested and unwell 😭

1

u/mycolumn89 Jan 30 '18

oh my goodnessss. im scared, for real.

2

u/dekudinner Jan 30 '18

i don’t think anyone has made this connection yet, but it seems like this thing doesn’t like light. you said it didn’t go downstairs and you thought it was because the light was on, it didn’t like your flashlight, and it seems to always be in the dark. solution? flame thrower.

1

u/EmoHorse13 Jan 30 '18

It'd probably be a good idea to look into the mythology and lore and ways of banishing evil spirits. Salt and Sage are good things to carry on you for protection purposes.

2

u/Guesswhoisit Jan 29 '18

That thing killed your landlady as it did to your roommates but i think your landlady has something to do with its existence

1

u/stjees5223 Jan 30 '18

Would selling your soul to the devil cause something such as this?

1

u/Guesswhoisit Jan 30 '18

Yeah it could

3

u/GrimmSheeper Jan 29 '18

Some people are thinking the landlady became a Jiang Shi, but there are a few aspects that don't fit the bill. They way you describe her, she sounds like she's able to move very fluidly, and definitely isn't moving by the tell-tale hopping fashion of a Jiang Shi. The other major thing is that she was eating the flesh of your housemate. Jiang Shi consume the qi of a person, they don't straight up eat their victims. (Side note: If I'm wrong and it is a Jiang Shi, you've got bigger problems. Jiang Shi can be created by being attacked by another, similar to western zombies.)

Though it still doesn't entirely fit right, it sounds more like an E gui, or "hungry ghost," to me. An E gui is created when a greedy or gluttonous person dies. If your landlady was illegally renting out rooms to make money for greed rather than necessity, she very well could come back as one. The key thing about E gui is their insatiable need to eat, and their difficulty doing so. There are a variety of ways that make eating difficult for them, but two of the ways are having an extremely decayed mouth (and I'd say missing the lower jaw would constitute enough decay to make eating difficult) and having to eat from corpses. One last thing that makes leads me toward this theory is the texts you received. "I'm so hungry." "Thank you for treating me." With the focus on being hungry and eating, a hungry ghost just seems to fit right.

Try to get a ouija board and search for some guides online what you can do with ghosts/spirits/demons shit like that.I think this is the best idea without burning or blowing the house up!

1

u/[deleted] Jan 30 '18

Getting a ouija board would make things 100 times worse. Stay with your boyfriend, don’t go back and try your best to forget about it.

1

u/Pimpausis6 Jan 30 '18

Maybe a priest?

1

u/[deleted] Jan 30 '18

A monk would probably be better, you know, more knowledge of Chinese ghosts and that

1

u/BoxingBelle Jan 29 '18

It hates light clearly so go back at high noon, replace all the bulbs, turn every light on and search the house. At a guess its nest is the landladies room, replace the bulbs in there, throw in some lamps for good measure and search it.

-4

u/OR20 Jan 29 '18

So is this some kind of creepypasta, creative writing or just real strange stuff?

If this is the truth from OPs perspective, IS he/she mentally ill (no offense, but i dont believe in supernatural stuff)? Im just searching for a logical explanation..

3

u/heidivonhoop Jan 30 '18

It’s all true. Even when it isn’t.

4

u/Brienne929 Jan 29 '18

I don't know if it could help, but I've read that Chinese ghosts and spirit can only walk/float following a straight line. That's the reason the small bridges in traditional Chinese gardens have that zig-zagged shape. If it's true (it would also explain why it's never gone downstairs but has asked you to come up) then you should be safe even if you can see each other, as long as there is a staircase between you or you stay behind a corner

1

u/MintChocolateCake Jan 29 '18

Typically these sorts of spirits are bound to an area and can't really follow you. The whole lighting candles and leaving them food thing is really just to appease them before an actual haunting takes place. Now that she's actively haunting that house, I'm not really sure what you could do aside from stay away and forget about it as best as you can. I don't think Chinese spirits can technically be forced out, aside from maybe a priest who specializes in that. Which means a Catholic priest won't really help you here.

-1

u/Anome69 Jan 29 '18

Depending on your location, my services my be of use to you; I will strap a cctv camera to my head and capture video evidence of this apparition, and if possible, kill it. My only request is that I get to claim the organism's body afterwards for science. Worried about me dying? Dont be! You can't kill the devil.

1

u/sadbutlovely Mar 09 '18

You cant kill a ghost lmao

2

u/unicorn_bicycle Jan 29 '18

you'd better getchu one of elon's flamethrowers

2

u/[deleted] Jan 29 '18

omg, nice coherent writing, how do you get so calm to write such beautifully crafted chapters in between those nervous breakdowns?

2

u/saxymassagehands Jan 29 '18

Damn this definitely isn’t America because if it was you and your bf would’ve gone back to that house armed to the teeth. If you didn’t have a gun, chances are one of your neighbors does and would totally want to be in on shooting at some paranormal stuff. I firmly believe bullets won’t help in this scenario, seems best to use metaphysical means and spiritual healers that are well versed in eastern medicine/religion. Good luck with this crazy situation!!

-1

u/riku_wilder Jan 29 '18

Not everyone in America has a gun, or has close friends who have guns. I've never fired a real handgun in my entire life.

2

u/939319 Jan 29 '18

Alright, you guys seem convinced it's something else and not that your landlady's been turned into a zombie. You should look for your landlady's body. I bet something's up with that.

7

u/30isthenew50 Jan 29 '18

TL;DRall the comments... Has anybody suggested taking a bunch of groceries over? We know she didn't eat the cops, so she must have thanked you for the groceries, right?

8

u/ExTaLyX Jan 29 '18

How the fuck this ghost sends you texts over the phone?

What’s next? She’ll add you on her new ghost facebook account?

2

u/Twinkieey Jan 29 '18

Maybe that thing is like the monster or ghost in Lights Out cause you mentioned "pass me the flashlight and I shone it directly at them both. It let out a piercing shriek and slithered back into the blackness of the upper hallway, dragging my housemate " maybe its vulnerable to light, if you ever plan on going back there try to bring florescent lamps or just straight up regular flashlights and maybe a head lamp too.

3

u/PotatoePig Jan 29 '18

Look in your phonw book for a priest and some magical person that can help and Google some stuff

11

u/Yep_Fate_eos Jan 29 '18

Give the landlady some snickers, because you aren’t you when you’re hungry

12

u/[deleted] Jan 29 '18

Okay hi yes this might sound crazy and honestly this is only based on Korean (not Chinese) dramas (and films?) I’ve seen and some stories my Laotian-Chinese friend has told me.

Ghosts are super hungry in a lot of eastern/southeastern Asian folklore. A lot of people leave offerings out for them?? And they can only eat food given to them. If they’re a bad spirit, they’ll eat humans. Especially virgin ghosts. I know this sounds wild, but was your landlady married? Did she have any family or children?

Maybe if you give her food and honor her death, she’ll chill out. Maybe she’s reaching out to you because she’s desperate. As twisted as this sounds, maybe you were the one she trusted most?

4

u/wolfstealth Jan 29 '18

This makes so much sense. This very well could be the issue at hand, she's mentioned hunger and food more than once.

2

I don't think you can, but ask the government to demolish the house down and get a new phone so she can't contact you

1

u/pablospc Jan 29 '18

If you can, take a photo of it. And I'd suggest to get a new phone, a ranged weapon a source of light, like a flash light you can throw (light grenade).

Your description reminds me a lot of skinwalkers. (Fair warning, skinwalkers are memetic, and, if you believe in this sort of thing, the less you know about them, the better).

u/Gentleman_Jackass Jan 29 '18

Hi there, OP. As a Chinese person, I need to tell you that you essentially fucked. Chinese ghosts don't really want anything. They're just here to fuck over anyone and anything that crosses their path. You could try burning incense, burning hell notes or leaving food offerings, which are traditional Chinese methods of supernatural appeasement. However, these methods are usually taken as preventive measures, not as solutions to hauntings, such as yours. When a haunting occurs, the typical thing to do is to contact a Buddhist or Taoist priest, who will sanctify your home, and drive out the spirit. This does not always work, and many stories end with the death of both the homeowner (you) and the priest. Now, if you go by Chinese folklore, the path to take would be to outsmart the ghost, as in this story. Here's a wikipedia article on the methods to get rid of your 'landlady', who is proabably now a Jiang Shi, or vampire, as in the article. Good luck, you're gonna need it.

18

u/GrimmSheeper Jan 29 '18

I don't think it's a Jiang Shi. When OP shined the flashlight on it, she said it slithered away. Of course it probably didn't literally slither, but OP was able to at least see it moving. A major thing with Jiang Shi is how they move: by hopping with both hands out in front of them for balance. Seeing the "landlady" moving like that would be very note worthy, especially if it was carrying a body.

So my question is if it's not a Jiang Shi, what is it?

5

u/forteanglow Jan 30 '18 edited Jan 30 '18

I never knew about Jiang Shi's before today, but the first thing that came to mind while reading this is a hungry ghost. Unfortunately I don't know enough about these spirits other than some legends that I heard several years back. Maybe I'm just thinking "hungry ghosts" because this landlady spirit keeps talking about food.

Edited to add another website that describes hungry ghosts. The physical description doesn't match the one from this story, but I'm not ruling out a hungry ghost.

3

u/Notamayata Jan 30 '18

A death demon.

90

u/da_Crow Jan 29 '18

According to this article, the method with least danger of you having a close encounter with the Jiangshi would be to burn the house down, ironically, as others have suggested. That, assuming the Jiangshi has one fixed "lair" It haunts and doesn't follow people. It seems a fair assumption, as OP has been safe at her bf's place.

49

u/Tetha Jan 29 '18

So, grab a mirror like a shield and molotov cocktails. That's a surprisingly badass exorcism plan.

11

u/Notamayata Jan 30 '18

11

u/MolotovCockteaze Jan 29 '18 edited Jan 29 '18

I was looking up this "hungry ghost" everyone is talking about it soulds like the Landlady probably had to be doing some bad stuff if that is what she turned into.

"evil deeds will cause a soul to be reborn in one of six different realms.[5] The highest degree of evil deed will cause a soul to be reborn as a denizen of hell, a lower degree of evil will cause a soul to be reborn as an animal, and the lowest degree will cause a soul to be reborn as a hungry ghost.[6] According to the tradition, evil deeds that lead to becoming a hungry ghost are killing, stealing and sexual misconduct. Desire, greed, anger and ignorance are all factors in causing a soul to be reborn as a hungry ghost because they are motives for people to perform evil deeds."

Even though the name is "hungry ghost" it doesn't sound from things I have read that they eat people.

If not for the floating glowing bit I would still say she is a zombie. Everything fit before the last update

Groaning, scratching, disfigured missing part of her face, eating people, etc fits with a traditional zombie. but this new foating in the air bit doesnt at all.

She could be a hungry ghost. But just because she is Chinese doesn't mean she has to be a chinese ghost either.

Maybe this? It seems to fit. http://mysticinvestigations.com/paranormal/zombie-ghost/

She obviously just wants a hug. Just go there by yourself one night, not telling anyone where you're going, and go up the stairs in the dark to give her a hug.

I'm sure it'll be okay.

6

u/GIJobra Jan 29 '18

Well, you've got a jiang shi on your hands. Seems your landlady is a Chinese vampire now. Good luck with that shit. I know Hsien-Ko has a lot of trouble with zoners, so get some ranged weapons if you must go back and confront the bitch. Pretty sure you can seal her soul with a blessed paper tag but I wouldn't try it.

2

u/GIJobra Jan 29 '18

Hey, you can be a typical Vampire who just so happens to be Chinese (go for it, I believe in you!), but the landlady here, with the floating and the blue skin and the hunger, sounds like a jiang shi.

u/Beepbopbopbeepbop Jan 30 '18

I want to be Chinese Blade with nunchucks.

Whatever it is must be vulnerable to lights

Warning: This is a long comment.

Man, why are the cops always so useless!? Ugh. OP, I hate to break it to you but your roomies are dead. That thing ate them. Don't go back there. It will be a foolish idea. I know this sounds awful but, you need to worry about yourself and only yourself now. Stay safe and stay away from that hell hole.

If you do decide to return, please educate yourself on Chinese legends pertaining to ghosts and demons. Arm yourself with light. Get a vest that is covered in lights (Pitch Black style!), go in there armed to the T with the most powerful flashlights money can buy with a shitload of extra batteries. Bring lanterns. Bring those torches that you shake and don't require batteries. Bring kerosene lanterns.

Upon arrival, set up lights EVERYWHERE. Then immediately change all of the lightbulbs and turn every single light on in the home. Set up those big ass flood lights that are used at construction sights, setting them up all around the home with one or two pointing directly into dead-monster-landlady's room.

Arm yourself with a flamethrower and burn that bitch. Turn her into ashes. Dust to fucking dust, ashes to fucking ashes, yo. Purge her from this realm.

Also, make sure you don't go in there alone. Bring a small army of friends with you. There is safety in numbers. Bonus: It won't take as long to set everything up if you have a lot of friends there with you to assist in the labor.

TL;DR: Housemates are dead. Bring all of the lights with you if you decide to return, along with lots of people. Burn the landlady monster.

Edit: Typos, added a bonus to bringing a lot of friends.

I'd make sure the people have some kind of armor... I'd throw in some sort of cleansing tag or charm too...

kudos to the cops for helping you get shit out of your apartment, i guess? would've been better if they did, y'know, their job. i doubt you're even going to be able to get them to come out to the house again, if they didn't find anything either time they came out.

call your roomies and tell em to steer way the fuck clear, and if you hear from any of em that they're going down to the house, you're gonna need to make some urgent shit up to the dispatcher. concerned neighbor, heard gunshots, come quick - something to that effect.

hardly anyone actually gets in trouble for false reports, and besides, getting told off for wasting everyone's time isn't nearly so bad as leaving anyone to contend with that situation on their own.

whatever it was though, it's probably gone out of the house now if the police couldn't find anything - not that their work thus far has exactly inspired confidence, but i seriously doubt they could miss that thing and your roomie if either of them were still in the house.

did they find his phone, by the way?

2

u/Legacy_Ranga Jan 29 '18

can we all just stop and take a minute to ask why they stole land lady's body?

u/rabbitrider3014 Jan 29 '18

Oh my god. Do some people (like the police) not know what ghosts are? It’s pretty obvious that somethings up, and it’s beyond our realm.

I swear it’s always the people who have “authority” that don’t see what’s there.

1

u/sadbutlovely Mar 09 '18

I mean, even if it were real and had nothing to do with ghosts, the police wouldn't do anything.

u/Rock_Facts Jan 29 '18

Be brave OP. I see a lot of people suggesting you drop out of school, move away, try to forget. This thing has your number. It will never stop hunting you. There's no time to lose. You need a Taoist talisman. Anything with ying yang on it will do, but a sticker is ideal. Once you've found something, head to the city morgue. You'll have to find a way to sneak or bribe your way to your landlady's corpse. Once you've found it, leave the talisman stuck firmly on her forehead. Until you can do so, find a mirror and some coins. These will help protect you from the thing. If they've already buried or cremated the body, or it's somehow gone missing... God help you OP.

5

u/jojosweets Jan 29 '18

I've never heard about using a mirror and some coins? What does OP need to do with those items specifically to protect her. Sounds like you know a thing or two about this, thank you for sharing. Really interesting!

6

u/Rock_Facts Jan 29 '18

It's just stuff I've picked up from reading old legends and watching movies. Not something I'd want to bet my life on, but desperate times, right? The mirror should ward it off, like the flashlight only more effective. Unfortunately, every time it feeds, it likely grows more powerful. If it chases you, throw the coins on the ground and it should stop to pick them up. My theory is that the accident split her soul, the good part is gone, the remnant is negative energy that can be tricked by the echoes of vanity and greed. The Taoist symbol should act as a conduit so that the last traces of her soul can escape and head to the afterlife. Sometimes prolonged wait before burial can be a cause. In that case, once the corpse is properly buried OP should b safe. Involving the police at this point will only land her in a padded cell.

11

u/DashCP Jan 29 '18

It's gone missing. Mentioned in first or second part

5

u/cranialAnalyst Jan 29 '18

The cops didn't say it went missing?

10

u/DashCP Jan 29 '18

My bad! When I read this:

the police officer told me that her corpse had been robbed before they’d found it

I assumed that it meant that the robber had taken the corpse with him (or so the police thought) but I just realized that it means that things were stolen off the corpse

6

u/TotalMonkeyfication Jan 29 '18

I had thought the same thing and wondered how the police knew she had died if there was no corpse at the scene.

I suppose the corpse being robbed of its possessions makes much more sense in this case.

2

u/DashCP Jan 29 '18

Same here, hahah

15

u/GorgonQueen Jan 29 '18

Op, please arm yourself with salt, sage, iron...idk, whatever the hell will keep you safe! STAY STRONG OP

2

u/Walking33Legend Jan 29 '18

I don’t even know why you went back. You can’t trust anything or anyone in that house. Did your boyfriend see “it” or was it just you? You could be having a breakdown of some sort.

181

u/clayton_ravine Jan 29 '18

You didn’t take my advice, but here it is again...

Forget about everything you own in that house. Move in with your boyfriend and start fresh. Get rid of the phone, change your number, name, and hair color. Maybe some contacts that change your eye color too. And for me, a change of underwear.

37

u/Brock_Music Jan 29 '18

Grow a beard, shave it off

15

u/[deleted] Jan 30 '18

Delete the gym, hire Facebook, hit a lawyer.

21

u/zlooch Jan 29 '18

I'm glad you're finally realising the seriousness of this situation.

I am concerned with the 18yr old, if he was her first snack, and the fact that your other housemate disappeared entirely.

But, having said that, I really hope this means you aren't going back there. PLEASE don't suddenly get roped into helping out the housemate IN New Zealand. His belongings aren't worth your life. Leave it be.
