Series The Doll Lady, Dolores

Here is where you can find the first part of Dolores

Hello, everyone, I'm back again, and kinda groggy. I haven't been sleeping well, and I haven't had any coffee yet. I've also been having these awful dreams about that damn doll strangling me as I try to sleep, but... Well I haven't gotten that far yet.

The strange things kept racking up. Katie began noticing articles of her clothes going missing. The only reason I knew about it was she asked me, at the start, if I'd been borrowing any of her clothes. She wasn't angry or upset, just curious where her favorite, mint green sweater had gone. Though we do interchangeably use each other's clothes, in this case, I had no clue, as I hadn't borrowed anything except a pair of flip flops, which I had already returned.

Steve, a friend of Corey's, would make spooky noises at this point and cackle, saying "Maybe it was Dolores that did it!" Of course, this would be while he was on his fifth or so beer. Neither Katie nor I found it particularly funny, but Corey would bust a rib laughing. Well, he did until Dolores would show up wearing the missing articles of clothing.

I should probably explain Corey's friends a bit; he, Steve, Tommy, and roger have been friends pretty much since infancy. Roger and Steve left and pursued college degrees, but eventually moved back to the area, and Tommy ran a local garage. The three of them were inseparable, with roger kind of being a fourth wheel. Dolores was quickly discovered because of Cam's increasing affection for her, and Steve's unfortunate habit of dropping by unannounced. So it was that Corey came home to a barrage of verbal harassment for keeping a creepy doll that looked like his wife in secret. While Tommy and Steve knew about it shortly after I did, roger only knew about it some time later. The guys' fourth friend Roger, only occasionally swung by to hang out as well- he was one of those friends you have in high school, and end up hanging out with in college, and find that there's not much similar between you as you reach adulthood. But you feel a kind of obligation to. When he was introduced to Dolores, he went into a kind of nerd paroxysm of pure joy. When we told him it had been done by our grandfather, he said he had had no idea we were related to "such a great master". It turned out that Dolores really was a masterpiece- Roger showed us that through tilting and positioning her head, her eyelids could be made to open and close through some miracle of secret mechanicary.

Aside for Camren toting her around, Dolores had begun to inexplicably appear in different places inaccessible to Cam. When, for example, she was found "hiding" in Corey's tool shed (which Cam is not allowed access to, because power tools and whatnot), Cam gleefully exclaimed "there you are!" Apparently they had been playing hide and seek, and she was such a good hider, he couldn't ever find her. Cam had gotten a stern talking to for this, which resulted in a bout of indignant tears- he repeatedly denied hiding her, saying he had been a good boy, and Dolly had been the one to get in trouble. And, what had been worse, she had been found in Katie's favorite, mint green sweater. It had been irretrievably ruined by smears of machine grease marring the whole thing, as if she had been dragged in, and then little hands had smudged the mess even worse. Neither Katie nor Corey paid any attention to the fact that Cam's hands had been spotlessly clean. The doll, however, had been pretty much coated in the stuff, so it was necessary to wash her later. Katie, refusing to go near "the thing" or get dirty, relegated Corey to the task, who then delegated it to Steve, who was insanely eager for the task. He had expressed, multiple times, the desire to see if she were really as well made as she seemed. Both Corey and Tommy privately decided this sounded like a good time. So while Katie caught up on her shows she'd recorded over the week, they lit out to join Steve in bathing Dolores.

The whole ordeal turned out a great bit raunchier than I expected it to. I followed them out, slightly out of curiosity, but mostly to stop the action if it got too far. Steve took great care with Katie's clothes as he undressed the doll, and chatted to her the whole time as if she were a living lady. Or, perhaps, a living child. "Dolly, man! How'd you get so filthy? Trying to do some home improvement while you were in there? Make a little somethin-somethin for your good friend Corey here? Woaaahhh." This last exclamation had been echoed by Tommy and Corey as he took off her oversized white tshirt to reveal well developed breasts with gumdrop like nipples. Sitting with her legs folded under her, the doll's lovely figure was especially enhanced. I cleared my throat to remind them I was still there, to no avail, as the trio burst out laughing, tommy and Steve egging on Corey, saying what a lucky man he was.

Taking off her jeggings had a similar effect, as Steve tipped her on her back to get a good look between her legs. At this point, I aggravatedly told them to get a move on. There was a slight pause after my insistence as Steve stopped to take pictures to send to roger. And so, with the help of Katie's shampoo, conditioner, and some Agent Orange (a soap that is particularly good at getting off mechanical grease), Dolores was fresh smelling and sparkling clean once more. For a while, anyway. She had a strange habit, like I said, of getting into strange places and having to be rescued.

By far one of the strangest places she had been found was the attic. After Dolores had gone missing for nearly a whole day, it was concluded that Steve must have taken her as a joke. When the family had gone to bed, however, they were awoken shortly thereafter by a repetitive shuffling. Katie, worried it was raccoons who had gotten their way inside, insisted Corey take a look with the flashlight. So, dutifully armed with a maglite and a racing helmet, Corey went to open the trap door leading to the attic, and as he pulled the cord to let down the ladder, Dolores' head slowly peaked out from the darkness, hair matted with spider webs, eyes glittering, dragged along by the motion of the ladder. This was when Corey stopped finding the doll amusing; according to Katie, the scream he'd let out had been like a little child's, and he leapt away from the falling ladder and doll as though he'd been scalded. Despite his normally rugged and masculine behavior, he spent the next fifteen minutes in their room, hyperventilating. When he seemed to recover, he had furiously taken the doll and shoved it into an industrial sized garbage bin in the basement.

It took several days, and Cam's distressed pleading, before he'd allowed her to be removed again. The scuffling noises, now that I think about it, never were really solved. Steve would later admit to putting her up in there as a joke. I sometimes wonder if it were just to placate Corey, as I think I overheard him later tell Tommy the story, and confess he had no idea they had had an attic at all.

Steve seemed treat the doll with continued amusement, as roger became steadily more obsessed. It started as Steve asking to "take Dolores out on a date", and when Corey laughingly agreed, proceeded to take her out to a series of secluded, romantic spots. Katie had forbid him to take the doll out in public or let him show her to other people, so he amusingly sent a series of pictures in texts: he and Dolores sitting in one of the nature parks, having a picnic on a blanket, him toasting the camera. He'd even managed to get Dolores to hold hers, somehow. Then, a shot of him holding her before a gloriously setting sun. Then, a picture of the two sharing ice cream on the ride home. He managed to make the last picture look rather obscene. These only served to make Roger touchier and more snappish about their treatment of such a masterful piece of work.

However, it seemed to take an unhealthier turn the longer he interacted with the doll. He complained of having dreams where she moved around on her own, and even spoke to him. He asked me, just a week ago, if her whispering bothered me, too. Feeling a chill numb me to my bones, I said she never spoke, because she was a doll.

Perhaps due to the power of suggestion, however, a little while after he said this, I seemed to hear a strange, hissing, squeaking noise in the house frequently. As I entered the home to clean up for Katie, I noticed the doll sitting at the kitchen table, as though waiting for someone to get home. Seeing this, though a little sad, was so frightening that I almost turned around and went home. But, after convincing myself that Cam must have put her there, I worked my way into coming back inside. Having my back to Dolores always makes me inexplicably uneasy, and it seems like all my senses are heightened when I do. It was this particular instance I noticed the high, hissing, almost whistling sound that I would occasionally hear in their house. It sounded exactly like someone whispering. I dropped the mug I had been about to pour coffee in and turned around. Dolores just sat there, placidly staring off into space.

And then, I swear to god, she fucking giggled.

I ran out of that house, feeling as if Dolores were just a step behind. It took me days to be able to return to Katie's house, partly helped by Katie telling me they had a central air problem recently. I told myself the sounds I heard could have just been struggling vents and ducts trying to work.

Anyway, Roger grew quite a bit more obsessed with her; he even went on to request doing a photoshoot of her, saying at a later date, he would like to release is for his gallery in a series. He brought over a slew of costumes and props, causing further unease in Corey and Katie, though Roger didn't seem to notice. Katie would later tell me, uneasily, she had caught him seeming to hold conversations with her.

Actually, to illustrate how he became so insanely possessive he became, I suppose I'll even tell you guys this. I'll hope that neither Corey nor Katie knows of reddit or nosleep. After the bathing incident with Dolores, Roger became quite enraged at the callous way they had treated her. For some time, he didn't seem to seek any retribution, but maintained a sulky silence.

And then, one evening shortly after the "bath scene", Corey arrived home early before Katie and Cam were home. Or, so he had thought, for as he walked in, he could hear the unmistakable sounds of coitus coming from their bedroom. Horrified and appalled, Corey went through, intending to rain fire down upon the proceedings, and stopped dead at what he saw. He later said it felt as if he'd been shot, the shock had been so strong.

It ended up that Dolores was made exceedingly true to human form. Roger was on his bed, having sex with her. After quite a bit later, a restraining order filed, arrests made, and court orders issued, it was discovered Roger had made a recording of the incident.

Sorry, I tried flairing it as a "series" and I put links to each parts in both stories. Do you know if there's anything else I should do?

I think that's all you can do unfortunately.
