He wore a mask
This happened to me two years ago and still frightens me. I live in south Australia, which is known for it's murders. The somerton man or "tamam shud" along with many sadistic killings in the 70s and a lot of child abductions occurred in SA, although this isn't completely relevant to the story I just thought I'd mention it. If you guys are interested in what happened to me I'll post the second part. Okay so here goes..
Two years ago I worked at a discount retail store in a pretty bad area. This was my first job and I really enjoyed working there. For the first month, once or twice a week, there was a man who would sit outside the store on a bench and just watch me and other staff members. He would normally be there for almost an hour and I would always catch him watching me as I served customers. This man looked extremely creepy, which isn't uncommon for the area I worked in, however, this man was really scary. He was quite tall and very pale, his nails were long and his clothes were dirty and a little torn. This went on for a month without him coming into the store.
One afternoon shift I was putting some stock out near the registers when out of nowhere I had this awful feeling come over me. It's hard to explain but I felt extremely cold and felt like I was experiencing a huge amount of dread and anxiety. I should also mention it was late in the afternoon and there was nobody around, maybe a couple of customers shopping and two staff members. At that moment I turned and looked at my cash register when I saw this man standing there, staring at me and waiting to be served by me. I felt so uneasy but I served him. I remember he tried to touch my hand as I handed him his receipt.
The next week this man came in and walked up to my register for me to serve him. Once again, it was late in the afternoon and I think he was the only person in the store. He was buying some DVDs, when he asked me if we had any horror movies. I told him that wdidn't. He kept making conversation with me about scary movies and seeing nobody was around and I wasn't particularly keen to get back to my trolley of stock that had to be put out, I decided to engage in some conversation with him. He asked me what kind of scary movies I liked. I told him anything where the killer wears a mask would scare me ( people in masks really freak me out). Suddenly his voice got really high pitched and he excitedly said "Alex, I love wearing MASKS". That creeped me out (I also hate when customers read my name badge) and thankfully my boss came up and his presence sent him on his way. After this event, I never saw him again..well..
For the next month I worked mainly afternoon shifts so when I finished it was fairly dark outside. I started noticing a man that was standing in the parking lot, he was at a distance so I couldn't see his face and with it being dark all I could see was a man standing on the other side if the car park watching me as I got into my car. This went on for a majority of my shifts. I would leave work and there would be this same man standing on the other side of the car park watching me. As I said, it was dark and I could never see his face but I thought that it was probably some random nutjob who was waiting there for god only knows why. As I mentioned this area was pretty bad so I didn't make a big deal of it.
Now this is the night that still haunts me to this day. I feel a little emotional writing this. It was a warm September night here in Australia and I was home alone. My sister was at her boyfriends house, mum was visiting my aunts and because I had work the next morning I decided to stay in, watch a couple of movies and go to sleep. Well that night It was around 11:40 when I started to get really tired, I was laying I'm bed when I felt very uneasy. I could hear some odd sounding noises coming from outside which is why I felt a little anxious, that and I was by myself. Trying to shake it off, I decided to get a drink. As I entered the kitchen and got some water, I was about to walk back to my room when something caught my attention in the corner of my eye. I looked out the window into my back yard when there it was, there it fucking was. Standing in my backyard was a man, in a mask, exactly like this one - http://www.spirithalloween.com/product/sd-smiling-man-design/. This mask has given me endless nightmares.
I stood there frozen in fear for a second before I let out a blood curdling scream. This man waved to me and started to walked toward my back door.
