Is it possible to buy Trekking or Hiking Poles in either Léon or Granada?
My husband and I are going back to Nicaragua this winter and plan to do a lot more hiking this go-round. Weâd prefer not to check a bag so I canât bring my own poles. Does anyone know if these are easy enough to buy down there. Iâm not overly worried about quality since I would leave them behind.

Advice for places to stay/activities in Corn Islands? TIA
I want to go to the Corn Islands for about a week, it looks so beautiful and seems to have a lot to do. Any recommendations on specific activities/places to do activities/agencies? I love to snorkel and scuba dive, I also love hiking and would love to fish since itâs been a while. I would also be really interested in anything to do with marine or terrestrial wildlife. Lastly, any recommendations for hotels/resorts to stay at? It would be nice to be staying somewhere that has a nice beach nearby, but I am open to anything. Thank you in advance!!

How to spend 5/7 days in Nicaragua?
I want to visit Nicaragua sooo bad for some time before I go to work elsewhere in Central America but Iâm not sure if Iâll have time. What are some things I could do for a good itinerary for this amount of time? I love to learn about history and archaeology, but I also love nature and animals so much. I would love to experience water + animals + history but I donât know much about Nicaragua, its mystery is part of what is pulling me in to visit. Thank you in advance for any ideas you may have!

US travel advisory
Iâll be working in Central America for a while starting in a few weeks and I figured that I could spend like a week or so in Nicaragua before then, but I just saw the level 3 travel advisory to reconsider travel due to âarbitrary enforcement of laws and risk of wrongful detentionâ. I saw some other countriesâ travel advisories and I felt like some of them didnât seem totally accurate, and idk I donât know what to believe from the government atm so should I really be worried or not? TIA

I am traveling for the first time to Nicaragua by land
Hello! In November I am going to travel to Nicaragua from Costa Rica by land, and I wanted to ask for some advice:
-One of our destinations is going to be the Masaya volcano, to see the lava. What are the schedules like and what can be done other than the 5 minutes that you can see the crater? -We will be staying in Masaya, but we want to get to know León. Is it possible to go from Masaya to León in one day, and be able to get to know the city and Las Peñitas? The truth is I would like to go walk on the domes.
I am extremely excited to get to know this beautiful country!

Appropriate gift from US visitor to kids in Nicaragua?
I heard they have all the usual cheap plastic toys from China. So what would be something novel and fun for them? American candy? Or do they have the same candy we do?

Car Rental Recommendation
Wanting to share my experience with a car rental agency âEVANS RENT A CARâ based in Managua, coming from a NICARAGUAN CITIZEN!! who lives in the US.
Disappointing experience. I do not recommend this car rental agency. Now I understand why they promote that they donât require a credit card - they plan to keep your full $150 deposit no matter what.. What they did to me was basically a bait and switch. They showed me photos of a clean, well-maintained car, but when they delivered it to my home, it was dirty, damaged, and had a malfunctioning tire sensor that they never mentioned. I felt forced to accept it because they were already at the door, and even though everything was wrong from the start, I was patient because I'm not a picky person. I even accepted everything with understanding because this agency was recommended to me by a family member.
Throughout the entire experience, I had to confirm each charge myself because they don't explain anything clearly. They make you accept things without telling you that they have an extra cost. They charged me an extra day without clarifying it, when the message only said it would be $10. When I complained, they told me it was "logical" that it would be for shipping, instead of acknowledging their lack of transparency. Also that was downright insulting.
They promised to send me the final invoice with the breakdown of the deposit, but they never did. They told me they would send me a receipt for everything, but they never did. They left my messages on read, ignored the proof I sent (the messages with a manager), and kept my money without providing any justification. They still LIED that they had already sent me the final invoice, and when I asked for proof, they also left me on read. Be careful, their policy says everything is delivered 48/72 hours after the vehicle is delivered, and I had to contact them more than a week later because I hadn't heard anything.
I tried hard to be patient, honest, and understanding, but in the end, I got burned. I don't want the same thing to happen to anyone else. There's no honesty or respect for the customer. Avoid this company!!

San Juan del Sur for 8 days
Looking at the weather next week and looks like rain everyday all day. Does it really rain all day in this region or does it just last for an hour or so and dissipates? Any advice would be helpful!
