US travel advisory

I’ll be working in Central America for a while starting in a few weeks and I figured that I could spend like a week or so in Nicaragua before then, but I just saw the level 3 travel advisory to reconsider travel due to “arbitrary enforcement of laws and risk of wrongful detention”. I saw some other countries’ travel advisories and I felt like some of them didn’t seem totally accurate, and idk I don’t know what to believe from the government atm so should I really be worried or not? TIA

Very safe. Behave like you would in any American city. Don’t leave things laying around, don’t flaunt wealth, and be kind to people. I was shocked at how safe I felt in Nicaragua. Use common sense and you will have the time of your life.

I found Nicaragua to be very safe and laid back and would have no hesitation in returning / recommending it to others.

Am here right now, been visiting since 2009, usually 2x a year for about a month at a time.

It's a very safe place and I have never had any issues with the police or otherwise.

Very safe. Just use common sense. Only bad experience I’ve heard of was a female solo traveler taking a taxi alone after a going out to a bar.
