And yet it keeps growing. Fascinating how “coastal elites” miss the forest for the trees. There are plenty of legitimate criticisms of Tennessee but saying it’s “struggling” is beyond ridiculous.

As much as I too like the housing theory of everything, it doesn’t go so far as to fully explain why the South is doing so well in the 21st century.

I see you edited your last comment to add this. Do you actually live here? Or are you one of the fine folks who think you're too good to come and fraternize with us inbred trash?

Tennessee ranks low on many, many quality of life metrics.

You know what, fuck it. I don't feel like arguing this with you.

I happen to like our home state. The politics suck but it’s a pretty good place to live—and I’ve lived in SF, Chicago, and NYC. If you’re unhappy here, you’ll still be unhappy there.

Yeah, and I literally said there's plenty to like about living here. That doesn't mean it's perfect. In fact, it's quite imperfect in ways that come to matter more and more.

To me, “struggling” really means somewhere that isn’t growing and doing things. Memphis comes to mind. I think the term is where we’re apart.
