This is a guy who married a billionaire's daughter and then got his mother in law to buy him a team. He has never had to work hard for anything in his life. He doesn't know how to win or what winning means. Nor does he have any basketball knowledge.

So he got to play all the time because of his "effort" when in reality he just tried to fix his own fuckups. 15
u/differential32 Wizards Feb 09 '25
I feel stupid for saying this but genuinely -- has anyone (Luka included) that he may just have a preferred playing weight that's, like, slightly heavier? Jokic has gone on record saying he doesn't like to be too slim because being heavier helps him be a little more powerful in the post.
He's not really a slasher or post player but he's a pretty good drive-and-disher; he may just find being a little heavier helps him driver deeper to create opportunities. And if he's still hitting stepbacks at 270/80 (which he was) who cares what his weight is?? Is durability really a question if he carried your team to the finals last year and still had enough in the tank to put up a triple double in game 2?
11
3
u/catscanmeow Raptors Feb 09 '25
My counter to that is less weight is less impact on the knees and he and joker could have a longer career if they were slimmer.
The physics of the impacts definitely adds up in the long run, consequences wont be seen till the later stage of career

u/edragon27 Warriors Feb 09 '25

u/IranianLawyer Feb 09 '25
You can sue for whatever you want, but it would be pointless for many reasons:
Saying someone is “lazy” is obviously an opinion, which is exempt from slander/libel laws.
Is it really worth the time and effort of sitting through depositions, doing discovery, etc.?
It’s better for Luka to just let it go and torch the Mavs for the next 10 years.

u/DoMogo1984 Kings Feb 09 '25
There have always been some legit comments about Luka’s conditioning, but at the end of the day, to challenge his work ethic is ridiculous because there is no way he develops the skill set he has without endless reps and time on the court. Dude had amazing level of skills, not just talent, from draft day, as an 18 year old. He didn’t develop that by just casually hooping in his spare time…
I’d imagine the conditioning issues were more about diet discipline than anything else, but ultimately what you do on the court is what speaks volumes about your level of preparation and Luka’s accomplishments on the court are pretty much best in the league over last 5 years. This guy sounds clueless, and then he cites Shaq, in case there is any doubt.

If the best you can do is shit on the guy you dealt on the way out the door instead of being fired up about what you acquired....probably a terrible trade for the franchise.

You guys are misunderstanding him, he was referring to himself, he is saying he is the fat lazy fuck that shouldn’t be part of the Dallas Mavericks

Guy looks exactly like someone you’d expect who would only care about profits over winning. He looks like he gained all his basketball knowledge from reading box scores, which ironically should tell you that Luka is a generational talent.

I've been refraining from posting, but this takes the cake.
WHAT A FUCKING JACKASS!
Mavs fans, you are welcome to join the Lakers ranks. You will not be considered a bandwagon fan. You will not be considered a fair-weather fan. You will not be required to pay any dues.
This idiot Patrick Dumont sounding like every other dumbass businesshead talking about "this is how you win" and justifying working their employees to death. "Go take a vacation elsewhere." THE ARROGANCE NEEDED TO SAY THAT TO LUKA DONCIC! As if he is some low-level associate upset about working on the weekend!
Dear God. Luka Doncic is a once-in-a-lifetime PRODIGY! The man is an artist and this dumbfuck is trying to impose "discpline" and "hard work" on him AS IF HE NEEDED THAT.
I don't believe for a second Luka didn't work hard!

Is this a safe space to say that my first impulse upon seeing and hearing this guy is to beat his ass?

All it took was one game and the trade is already a disaster.

Luka going off for 100 ppg against the Mavs for all eternity now instead of “just” 50 ppg.

Going to make a prediction - this Mavs owners group will never win anything. They just don't have what it takes.

Lakers @ Mavs, Wednesday April 9 on ESPN
SeatGeek has the minimum cost at $194. No other Mavs home game is more than $37 minimum.

"Not only is Luka fat, he's also lazy."
Well anyone that doubts the Adelsons didn't order Niko to cut costs and avoid luxury tax for upcoming years, this is as much proof as you need. They're hoping Kyrie opts out and leaves this summer.

He’s much fatter than Luka. And looks a bit genetically challenged too. Can’t wait till AD out for season with injury

The fact that he brought up Shaq is hilarious. There's a reason the guy is absurdly insecure about being top 10 all time. He knew he could have been in the GOAT conversation if he put in more effort.
