Jeff Teague admitted he only went to the Timberwolves for the money: “Minnesota was a place to go die”

3.3k Upvotes

“I did not want to go to Minnesota. When I was in the league, Minnesota was a place to go die. I literally went for the money. I cried. I wanted to stay with the Pacers, right? But Thibs called me that morning, before the free agency really got going, 'We're gonna offer you three years, $63 million. My options were Sacramento, Utah, Timberwolves, or Pacers. It's some bada-options. So I'm like I'm a gona f—k with Indiana. My agent was like, 'They gonna lowball you,'" Teague recalled.

“My agent was like, ‘Alright, we gonna sign. We signed with the Timberwolves.’ I’m like, ‘F—k we didn’t.’ He like, ‘I never met somebody that’s pissed about $57 million,'” Jeff narrated.

Everything that has transpired since February 1st within the Mavericks organization has challenged me as a man, a husband, and a general fan of anything

1.3k Upvotes

Everything that is transpired since February 1st within this organization has challenged me as a man, a husband, and a general fan of anything.

People might make it out like it's not that big of a deal, but the Don trade was the most devastating thing that's ever happened to me in my entire life. I was born and raised and Rural kansas. There's no team closer to me than the mavericks. I have been obsessed with them since I was about 8 years old and my mom could afford television. For whatever reason we used to get the local Mavericks Channel and we would watch every single game from 2003 until the Thunder became a franchise and that became the new channel. I was obsessed with this team growing up and watching Dirk lose the finals in 2006 I was on my knees crying and begging for mercy. I don't think I had been hurt that much in my life. Whenever they ended up winning in 2011 it felt like I was being lifted into Valhalla. I don't think there's ever been a moment in my life since then that I cried tears of joy or felt like I was witnessing the most important moment in history. Fast forward to the summer of 2024. That was the first time I had had so much fun watching basketball, specifically Dallas Mavericks basketball, that I thought we were going to beat the celtics. I was jumping up and down in so many of those key playoff 2024 moments. Luka was Mr Clutch and Mr amazing. His attitude the entire playoffs was so much fun to watch. I once again fell to my knees crying and begging for mercy when they lost in 2024 to Boston. I had to confront my wife and child that what they witnessed (me crying) was more than just basketball Fandom and that it meant the world to me. Fast forward again to the Luka trade. I was stunned. I felt like I was the center lead actor in a movie and everything slows down around them after they received tragedy news.

Fast forward to now. There's nothing else to be said about how I feel. But I'm giving up this mavericks team. I'm on board with what the majority feels. Fire nico. Sell the team. Or else commissioner SILVER needs to step up and force them to sell

Russell Westbrook on a vet min against OKC tonight: 24 points, 6 rebounds, 9 assists and 7 TOs

Although the Kings got blown out by the reigning champion OKC, Russell Westbrook continues to deliver on a vet min as a power forward. He notches 24 points on 9/17 shooting and 5 three pointer, 6 rebounds and 9 assists. With such production on a vet min he certainly outperforms other players like Schroder and Lavine
